Why are people more eager to che@t other people this days?
Last week, the keke(Tricycle) driver I usually use for deliveries within Woji and environs, came to my shop to look for me. When he came I was out for a business meeting but the person at the shop called me that the guy desperately wants to see me, so I asked her to give him phone so I could speak to him.
He (the Keke guy), told me over the phone that he came to borrow 4,000 from me to complete the money he had to fix his Keke tyre. I told him that was far away in a meeting, but he sounded desperate, so I asked him to meet the POS lady close to the shop and collect 4k from her that I would give her when I get back.
All this, was happening around noon and according to the guy, he would return the money later that evening.
Today is exactly one week this, this guy has blocked my number.
I got to find out he blocked my number when I started calling him 2 days after he borrowed the money to go deliver goods to my customers 😳😳. I wasn’t even calling for the money.
Now I regret lending him the money because, he has been so diligent and swift with deliveries with nice attitude to my customers.
I lost services of a good delivery man because he lacks integrity.😭
I keep asking myself what is the point of absconding with 4,000 when he can make double of that in a day of 3-5 deliveries 🤷♀️
Would it have been better if I hadn’t lent him the money?
What is your take on this?
