Saudi Arabia has deployed drone surveillance across Makkah to crack down on unauthorized pilgrims during the Hajj season. This cutting-edge monitoring system is actively identifying individuals without valid Hajj permits, leading to daily arrests of violators. Recent reports confirmed the detention of four Indonesian nationals promoting fake permits, with 14 more arrested during follow-up operations.
Meanwhile, at Medina’s Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport, AI-powered e-gates have been introduced to streamline the arrival process for legitimate pilgrims. Twenty e-gates and over 30 passport scanners have been installed to reduce wait times and ensure smooth entry.
These developments reflect Saudi Arabia’s dual approach: strict enforcement against illegal entry and tech-driven improvements for approved pilgrims. Both efforts aim to ensure a safe, efficient, and sacred Hajj experience for all.
