In this part of the world, if you don’t go to church religiously especially on Sundays, your Christian life is termed as whack! Forgetting that the problem isn’t Christianity or being a church goer 😃.
The problem is we’ve learned to "perform religion" while ignoring Christ. Going to Church without having a personal relationship with God is like pouring water on a rock and expecting it to be fruitful.
We’ve all met them.
The guy who quotes bible verses at work but carries kalash at night. The woman who leads prayer group but won’t respond to her sister's greetings after being offended.
The girl who sings melodiously in choir on Sundays but does olosho at night .
Should I mention the ones with turbans and berets on their heads but their hearts are filled with anger, bitterness, envy and covetousness?
Let's stop wearing christianity like a sunday outfit. Jesus didn’t have time for Pharisees who loved long prayers but devoured widows’ houses. Why? Because God never asked for actors. He asked for sons and daughters.
Christianity is not all about being in church every Sunday. You should ask yourself:
“Do I look like Christ?”
"Do I obey God's words/commandments?
"Do I love my neighbour as myself?
If your Christianity only works in church buildings, quiet times, and around other Christians, it’s religion! If it works when you’re broke, betrayed, tired and tempted, that’s Christ in you.
A true Christian copies Jesus' habits, yes! Jesus withdrew to pray, then showed up to serve. He ate with sinners, not just saints. He touched lepers before He preached to crowds. Our calendar should look like that.
- Let love be our policy.
It’s a daily audit.
How often do I show love to people around me?
Am I source of pain and despair to my neighbours?
When you mess up, don’t just do extra church stuff to compensate. True repentance is key.
Apologize.
Make it right.
Return the money.
Delete the number.
That’s repentance, not religion.
God isn’t fooled by your choir robe or how well you preach on the alter if your heart is a crime scene.
Religion asks:
Why did you miss church today?
Did you tithe?
Why did you not join the fasting programme?
Did you pray today?
Christianity without Christ is just moral cosplay. The world doesn’t need more religious people. It needs more people who actually smell like Jesus — grace, truth, and love — at home, in the office and when no one’s clapping.
Let's learn to practice christainity and not religion. Walk with God in truth and in spirit!
