False alarm for city residents and commuters living along the Gordon Circuit.

The alleged discovery of a human person inside a bag in the drain parallel to the main road, turned out to be a dog – wrapped in plastic, placed inside the feed bag and dumped in the drain.

Police Forensics were at the scene and confirmed this, along with the three policemen who had initially attended to the scene. Pictured is the ‘discovery’ being covered with pink material before the forensics team arrived.

THE Highlands Highway was temporarily cut off yesterday by a mudslide and debris at the Watabung section of Eastern Highland’s Daulo, according to police.

Provincial police commander Senior Inspector Josephine Kumai confirmed that continuous heavy rain over the last few days had caused landslips to cover different sections between Watabung station and Chuave station in Chimbu.

EAST Sepik Governor Allan Bird has announced that an independent power supplier will take over electricity generation and distribution in East Sepik in a bid to address years of chronic outages.

Bird said Ok Tedi Power Ltd (OTPL) sent technical experts to Wewak and Maprik this week to assess the province’s electricity system.
