Unfair Treatment of Wapu Sonk, Former MD of KHPL.
Wapu Sonk, the former Managing Director of Kumul Holdings Petroleum Limited (KHPL), was let go without proper notice or appreciation for his 15 years of dedicated service.
Under his leadership, KHPL grew into one of PNG's leading companies, contributing significantly to the country's economy and employment. His sacking was abrupt and lacked formal process, leaving him feeling disrespected and undervalued.
The James Marape government's handling of this situation is questionable.
Wapu Sonk's contributions to PNG's development deserve recognition, not dismissal like trash. His removal seems unjust and raises concerns about the government's treatment of successful leaders. It's like they're shooting themselves in the foot, losing experienced hands like Wapu Sonk.
This isn't an isolated case. Other notable leaders like David Wereh have faced similar treatment, sparking concerns about the government's attitude towards industrious leaders. What's the message here? Drive growth, create jobs, and get sacked without justification?
Key Issues:
- Lack of formal termination process
- No appreciation for Wapu Sonk's contributions to KHPL's growth and PNG's economy
- Abrupt dismissal after 15 years of service
- Negative impact on PNG's business environment and leadership morale
- Pattern of unfair treatment of successful leaders like David Wereh
The government needs to rethink its approach to leadership and recognize the value of experience and dedication. When leaders like Wapu Sonk are shown the door without just cause, it sends a worrying signal to investors and entrepreneurs.
It's time for change or in other words, such practice must stop. Its detrimental to the development of our nation.
