THANK YOU MBOP PNG! ππ΅π¬π―
This journey has been both humbling and rewarding. The Miss Central Province Pageant Organising Committee, together with our Inaugural Miss Central Province - Ruth Elijah, is committed to carrying out project implementation and advocacy initiatives for the remainder of her reign (2025-2026).
We are motivated to visit all our beaut five districts - Abau, Rigo, Hiri-Koiari, Kairuku & Goilala, supporting minor development initiatives at wards level, facilitating youth council establishment and engagement, initiating community health interventions, and contributing to leadership and social development programs. Our focus will include mental health, menstrual and maternal health, domestic violence, and other key social challenges affecting our communities across Central Province.
We are also eager to identify and engage with organisations within each district that support our brothers and sisters living with special needs. We hope to learn from them, understand their needs, and connect local leaders to these initiatives. In doing so, we will support the advocacy efforts of our reigning Miss Bird of Paradise PNG 2025-2026, as we jointly take a stand for our citizens living with disabilities. We intend to champion improved accessibility through ramps, proper footpaths, inclusive transport, and relevant educational materials (braille literature material and sign language material for ALL persons within our communities) - while ensuring these brothers and sisters of ours are embraced, valued, and celebrated within our communities.
Our Inaugural Miss Central Province will lay a strong foundation for our next Queen (whomever she may be), who will continue this mission from 2026β2027 as we prepare for participation in the Miss PNG Pageant in Western Highlands Province 2026! πΊ
We look forward to collaborating with relevant agencies and partners to create meaningful impact within our province from the wards level up to district level. We hope our efforts will inspire worthy young Central women to step forward and become future ambassadors for our province. Ruth has demonstrated a genuine heart for her people, and as she travels throughout Central Province, we trust that communities will welcome her warmly and join us in advancing our shared vision.
Tanikiu Kamukamu & may God bless us all as we begin the work ππ΅π¬πβ€οΈπ―
MEDIA RELEASE
Miss Bird of Paradise PNG PageantπΊβ¨
Monday 8th December 2025
The Miss Bird of Paradise Committee extends its heartfelt appreciation to the people of Papua New Guinea for the overwhelming love, encouragement, and support shown to our nine Provincial Queens during the Miss Bird of Paradise Pageant 2025.
This year marks a historic milestone, the first-ever provincial participation, transforming our vision into a powerful national movement of culture, unity, empowerment, and pride, and creating clear pathways for ongoing provincial and future district participation.
We honour the nine provinces that boldly stepped forward in this inaugural provincial chapter.
We congratulate Miss Western Highlands Province for being crowned Miss Bird of Paradise 2025, and we look forward to Western Highlands Province hosting next yearβs pageant on 3 December 2026.
While Miss Western Highlands now carries the national crown, the remaining eight contestants continue as their Provincial Queens until their next provincial winners are selected.
We encourage each Provincial Queen to use her platform meaningfully for the development of her province through community initiatives, leadership programs, cultural preservation, tourism promotion, advocacy work, or enterprise development.
They are ambassadors of empowerment and identity. We invite the nation to support them as they rise to become role models for young women across Papua New Guinea.
The Miss Bird of Paradise Pageant is a major national event and, like all large-scale programs, requires significant investment to generate substantial returns across the ecosystem of empowerment.
The K100,000 provincial registration fee covered:
- Payments for contestants, designers, chaperones, Toastmasters, and choreographers
- Ten days of accommodation, meals, security, and transportation for contestants and chaperones
- Two weeks of media coverage and the Cyber Safety Campaign. Recognising the high level of public scrutiny faced by young women during pageants, this year we launched a Cyber Safety Campaign during Pageant Week to encourage kindness online, address cyberbullying, and promote digital responsibility. This campaign will remain a permanent component of the MBoP program.
- Three days of judging (Topic Presentation, Float Parade, Crowning Night), including venue hire, stage, sound, lighting, administration, and operational costs
- Independent management of all MBoP financial accounts by KPMG, ensuring full transparency and accountability
We were saddened by the last-minute withdrawal of two provinces, despite their contestants already checked in for Pageant Week.
We commend Miss Morobe and Miss Sandaun, whose Members of Parliament personally attended to show support. Both contestants carried themselves with dignity and represented their provinces with pride.
Due to the circumstances, the two Provincial Committees responsible are no longer recognised by the National MBoP Committee.
We believe in empowerment, not suppression. We will not tolerate actions that undermine contestants or hinder their progress.
This yearβs MOAs were signed for one year to pilot the provincial structure.
Given the challenges experienced:
- A stricter vetting and appointment process will be introduced for Provincial Chairpersons in 2026.
- MOUs will be retained for provinces that demonstrated strong leadership, accountability, and genuine commitment.
- Provinces requiring new leadership will undergo an Expression of Interest process to ensure the most capable individuals and organisations are selected.
All partners are reminded that any funds secured using the Miss Bird of Paradise name must be fully acquitted to protect the integrity of the pageant. We will be requesting acquittals from the committee in Morobe as we understand funds were made available to support this yearβs provincial queen however the funds were never expended for their intended purpose.
Preparations have begun for our Culture and Tourism Ambassador, Miss Bird of Paradise 2025/2026, who will represent Papua New Guinea at the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant 2026 in Fiji, from 8β14 February.
We remain committed to excellence, integrity, and international representation of the highest standard.
In the last three years, Miss Bird of Paradise has been reorganised, rebranded, and elevated into a respected national institution.
Miss Bird of Paradise is more than a crown, it is a movement shaping a new generation of strong, confident, culturally grounded, and God-fearing women.
Provincial participation has ignited national momentum that will only grow stronger.
We thank Papua New Guinea for believing in our daughters, for honouring their courage, and for supporting a platform that will continue to inspire the next 50 years and beyond.
Miss Bird of Paradise remains a pageant with a purpose, our crown is for service.
Thank you,
Miss Bird of Paradise PNG Committeeπ΅π¬
