FACT: Milk supply can decrease for different reasons — and yes, stress can affect it too.
When a breastfeeding mom is stressed, tired, dehydrated, skipping feeds or pumping sessions, or not emptying the breasts regularly, milk flow and supply can be affected. Stress may not instantly “dry up” milk, but it can make letdown harder, which can make feeding feel more difficult. Feeding less often, poor latch, and frequent formula supplementation can also lower supply over time.

To all the mamas:
Please remember — your body needs nourishment, hydration, rest, and support too. Hindi ka machine. You deserve care while caring for everyone else. 🤍
A gentle reminder from Mama Nourish: take care of yourself, mama. A supported mom feeds better, feels better, and heals better.

To all the amazing women, and especially to the breastfeeding mommies — Happy International Women’s Day.

Today, I celebrate the quiet strength of mothers who give so much of themselves every single day. The sleepless nights, the sore shoulders, the endless worries, and the unconditional love that only a mother can give.

Breastfeeding is not always easy. There are moments of doubt, exhaustion, and even tears. But behind every feeding session is a mother who chooses love, patience, and sacrifice for her child.

To every mama who continues to show up — tired but determined — please know that what you are doing matters. Your body, your effort, and your dedication are nurturing life in the most beautiful way.

You are strong.
You are resilient.
You are doing an incredible job.

May Allah bless every mother with strength, patience, and good health as you nurture the next generation.

Today we celebrate you. Always. Happy International Women’s Day.

Yes, Islam allows a breastfeeding mother to postpone fasting if she genuinely fears that fasting will harm her health or reduce her milk to the extent that it may harm the baby. Islam prioritizes the preservation of life and well-being. Allah says: “Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship” (Qur’an 2:185). If a mother experiences weakness or a clear reduction in milk that affects the child, she may break or delay the fast. This concession is part of the mercy and flexibility that Islam provides in situations of genuine difficulty.

In such a case, the missed fasts should normally be made up later (qada) when the mother is able, such as after the breastfeeding period or when fasting no longer harms her or the baby. Some scholars also mention that if the fast was missed mainly due to concern for the child, a person may feed a poor person for each missed day along with making up the fasts. It is recommended to consult a knowledgeable scholar for personal circumstances, but the general principle is that Islam protects both the mother and the child while ensuring the obligation of fasting is fulfilled when possible.

O Allah, grant strength and ease to all mothers, accept our fasts and sacrifices, and bless our families with health and mercy. Ameen 🤲

To the mom staring at the bottom of the bottle right now…

Counting ounces like they count your worth.Feeling that familiar drop in your stomach when the lines don’t rise the way you hoped.

Let me say this clearly.

The pump is not your baby.

It doesn’t nuzzle your chest.
It doesn’t trigger the same hormones.
It doesn’t cuddle.
It doesn’t melt into you at 2 a.m.

A pump measures output.
Not effort.
Not sacrifice.
Not love.
Not the work your body is doing when no one is watching.

Your baby does not drink numbers.
Your baby drinks comfort.
Protection.
Regulation.
Connection.

That milk in the bottle
even if it’s “only” a little
is alive with antibodies
tailored specifically for your baby.

You didn’t fail because the bottle isn’t full.
You showed up anyway.

You washed the parts.
You sat through the discomfort.
You kept going when quitting would have been easier.

And that?

That counts.

If you’re a pumping mom
especially on the days the ounces feel small
this post is for you.

You are not behind.
You are not broken.
You are doing something incredibly hard
with a body that is already doing so much.
