Each participating student group had a designated slot to present their entrepreneurial venture/Feasibility Study. Presentations were limited to 30 minutes, followed by a 30-minute Q&A session with the panelists. The presentations were divided into three primary focus areas:
Technical Aspects: Students explained the production process, the technology behind their food products, sustainability measures, and how they ensured product quality and safety.
Marketing Aspects: The students showcased their market research, consumer behavior insights, promotional strategies, and competitive advantage in the crowded food industry.
Financial Aspects: In this segment, students discussed their business models, as well as key metrics like pricing strategies, revenue outcomes, funding, and risk management.
Panelist Discussions and Feedback
The 18 panelists from the industry and the academe were divided into three groups to focus on specific areas of business evaluation:
Technical Panel: Composed of experts in food science, production, and technology, concentrated on operational aspects, including the technical details of production and ensuring product quality.
Marketing Panel: Consisting of seasoned marketers and branding experts, this group assessed the market positioning of the products, consumer engagement, and promotional campaigns.
Financial Panel: A panel of financial analysts and business consultants assessed the financial health and sustainability of the ventures. They focused on profitability, cost structures, and overall financial results.
The panelists engaged in rigorous discussions after each presentation, providing actionable feedback and suggesting improvements. This comprehensive review process helped students better understand the strengths and weaknesses of their business.
Networking and Industry Engagement
Beyond the defense presentations, students had opportunities to network with industry professionals. Representatives from the participating food companies shared insights on current industry trends and offered students potential career paths and internship opportunities.
