From watching to doing! 🐟🔪🌊

For our latest Lambo Dagat USAP session, 28 fisherfolk took part in a hands-on workshop on proper fish handling, chef-grade cuts, vacuum sealing, and quality control alongside Chef Jeff.

Seeing the fisherfolk, predominantly women fishpreneurs, gain confidence in fish processing and improving product quality brings us one step closer to connecting small fisherfolk communities directly with buyers in Cebu City.

Next up is continuous home practice as we prepare for our upcoming test shipments!

Lambo Dagat moves forward 🐟🌊

After going community to community to introduce Lambo Dagat, we came back together for our first General Assembly with fisherfolk from Bantayan Island.

It was a day of kuwentuhan, activities, shared learning, and getting to know the journey ahead. Together with the fisherfolk, we reflected on our own experiences to explore better ways of handling and bringing seafood to market. The sessions were designed to make learning practical, engaging, and rooted in the realities of the community.

More than anything, it was about building the group that will take the next steps together. We’re excited to continue learning with our pioneer Lambo Dagat participants as they move into the next phase of the program. 💙

Lambo Dagat is spearheaded by Rare Philippines and Tindagat to help strengthen opportunities for small-scale fishing communities in Cebu.

Fresh seafood and vegetables are now available paluto-style through HanapGulay and Tindagat.

Choose from what’s fresh from our farmer and fisherfolk partners, tell us how you would like it cooked, and we’ll prepare it for you. Not sure what to order? We can also recommend cooking styles based on the ingredients you choose.

Pricing depends on the fresh ingredients selected plus the corresponding cooking fee similar to a dampa-style setup.

Going community to community in Bantayan for Lambo Dagat 🐟🌊

On our latest Cebu trip, we spent time meeting with fishing communities to introduce Lambo Dagat. It is a project in collaboration with Rare Philippines to help fisherfolk strengthen the way their catch is handled, processed, and brought to market.

We shared what chefs and restaurants look for in quality seafood, and talked about how better post-harvest practices, cold-chain handling, and responsible sourcing can open opportunities for fisherfolk to supply more directly to the Cebu market.

Before the training begins, we want the communities to understand where the fish can go, why quality matters, and what opportunities could become possible.

We’re now building the pioneer batch of fisherfolk who will join us for the next stage of Lambo Dagat. Thank you to the communities who welcomed us and shared their time, questions, and insights.
