Ingredients (Serves 4)
For the spaghetti:
400g spaghetti pasta
2 liters water
1 tsp salt
1 tsp olive oil (optional)
For the beef sauce:
300g ground beef (or beef strips)
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2-3 garlic cloves, minced
1 medium carrot, finely diced (optional)
1 bell pepper, chopped (optional)
400g canned tomatoes (or fresh blended)
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp chili flakes (optional)
Salt to taste
2 tbsp olive oil or cooking oil
½ cup beef or vegetable broth (optional for richer taste)
For garnish:
Grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh parsley or basil
Instructions
Cook the spaghetti:
Boil water in a large pot, add salt.
Add spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
Drain and drizzle with a little olive oil to prevent sticking.
Prepare the beef sauce:
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
Sauté onions until soft, then add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
Add ground beef, cook until browned. Break up lumps with a spatula.
Add carrots and bell pepper if using, cook for 2-3 minutes.
Stir in tomato paste, canned tomatoes, oregano, basil, black pepper, chili flakes, and salt.
Pour in broth if using.
Reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes until sauce thickens.
Combine and serve:
Add cooked spaghetti to the sauce and toss to coat evenly.
Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmesan and fresh herbs.
