What a busy yet meaningful past two weeks for us at Imperfection Box!

Alongside while managing Imperfection Box, I had the opportunity to serve as a panel judge for the Youth for Causes Selection Interview and also worked on a research paper.

But one of the most fulfilling things we did was partnering with businesses to rescue almost 1500kg of imperfect fruits and vegetables.

Being able to contribute to reducing food waste in this way was truly rewarding. It reminded me of the impact that each of us can make, no matter how big or small the action.

At Imperfection Box, we are committed to sustainability and creating a better future for our past two weeks accomplishment is just one of the many ways we strive to make a positive impact on the environment and our community.

Let’s make everyday Stop Food Waste Day by choosing imperfect fruits and vegetables.

These so-called ‘ugly’ produce often get left behind on the shelves and eventually being thrown away. They might not look perfect on the outside, but they have just as much delicious flavour and nutritional value on the inside.

Food waste crisis is a pressing issue that not only contributes to environmental degradation and climate change, but it also incurs financial losses for produce importers.

Inefficient supply chains and strict aesthetic standards have created vast amounts of perfectly edible fruits and vegetables going to waste everyday.

When we first started out on our journey to reduce food waste, we tried to do everything under the sun to make a difference. But we soon realised that to make a real impact, we needed to stop doing everything and start focusing our efforts on one critical issue: food waste.

On this Earth Day, we are beyond excited to share that Poke & Mold is partnering with Imperfection Box to make a greater impact in the fight against food waste.

Together with Imperfection Box, we design tailored programs for businesses to achieve goals. Our vision is a world where no food goes to waste and create a more sustainable future.

2022 has been a year full of stories of all sort. Here are the three recollections which we were grateful for:

1. Rescuing 6,730kg of surplus/imperfect fruits and veggies from going to waste. And for the past three months, our rescues were done remotely with the support of our key partners. Thank you for believing in our cause and these rescues will not be possible without you all.

2. While we were not active in pop-ups, we are thankful to .hyc for giving us the opportunity to join .hyc. We met like-minded new friends whom inspired us, having meaningful conversations, and learning from them was the best take-away.

3. We always keep reflecting on how we can improve our impact to the planet. This will be a continuous effort as our belief of sustainable business is not all about profit-making but the core will always be making a difference (doesn’t matter small or big) to our planet. That is also why we have decided to reduce our products line and focus on what’s matter most.

Thank you 2022 for the experiences and lessons. We will take these valuable learnings to 2023 and continue to improve our way of working.
