*SIERRA LEONE FILM COUNCIL PARTNERS WITH FEDERATION OF ALLIED TOURISM ASSOCIATIONS (FATA) TO BOOST TOURISM THROUGH FILM*
The Sierra Leone Film Council (SLFC) has officially cemented its partnership and membership with the Federation of Allied Tourism Associations (FATA) in a landmark move aimed at strengthening collaboration between the film and tourism sectors.
The agreement, signed on 12th February 2026, brings together the national film regulatory body and a powerful tourism umbrella organization representing 21 unions and associations, including Travel Agencies, Hotels, Night Clubs, Beach Bars, Restaurants, Chefs, Casinos, Hotel Taxi Operators, and Event Planners, among others.
Presidents of the various tourism associations present at the engagement emphasized that the film industry provides one of the most effective platforms to tell Sierra Leone’s story and project its tourist attractions to the world. They noted that cinematic storytelling has the power to showcase the country’s beaches, historical landmarks, culture, hospitality, and entertainment lifestyle to both regional and international audiences.
Through this partnership, FATA has pledged to provide operational support and access to tourism facilities for film productions, enabling filmmakers to utilize hotels, beaches, restaurants, and entertainment venues as prime filming locations. The collaboration is expected to stimulate “film-induced tourism,” attract foreign productions, create employment opportunities, and strengthen Sierra Leone’s destination branding.
The Sierra Leone Film Council described the partnership as a strategic step toward leveraging the creative industry as a tool for economic growth, cultural promotion, and international visibility.
Both institutions reaffirmed their shared commitment to positioning Sierra Leone as a leading destination for film production and tourism development in West Africa.
