BREAKING: Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, the Governor of Central Equatoria State, on Friday issued four gubernatorial decrees announcing significant leadership changes within Juba City Council.
‎
‎1. Relieved Johnson Swaka Ngisak from his position as Mayor of Juba City Council and replaced him with Christopher Sarafino Wani Swaka.

2. Relieved Thiik Thiik Mayardit, Deputy Mayor for Administration and Finance and replaced him with Jenifier Yabu Lasuba.

3. Relieved Juma Moses Michael, Deputy Mayor for Infrastructure and Environment and replaced him with Stephen Lomude Martin.

Central Equatoria governor Rabi Mujung has dismissed Juba City Mayor Johnson Swaka along with his deputies Thiik Thiik and Juma Moses Michael.

In the new appointments, Christopher Sarafino Wani Swaka takes over as Mayor of Juba City. Jenifer Yabu Lasuba has been named Deputy Mayor for Administration and Finance, Lual Joseph Deng as Deputy Mayor for Social Services, and Stephen Lomude Martin as Deputy Mayor for Environment and Waste Management.

BREAKING: President Salva Kiir Mayardit has appointed Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, Vice President for the Economic Cluster, as Chairperson of the reconstituted High-Level Committee for Dialogue, Expedition, and Follow-Up on the Final Status of Abyei.

Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel will be deputized by Pieng Deng Majook, Minister of East African Community Affairs, while the Minister of Presidential Affairs and Martin Otimoya will serve as Rapporteurs. Other senior government officials and Abyei’s dignitaries have also been appointed as members.

The reconstituted committee is mandated to engage with the Government of Sudan and report directly to the President on the progress and outcomes concerning Abyei’s final status.

The committee is expected to enhance dialogue mechanisms and fast-track the resolution process on the long-standing issue of Abyei between South Sudan and Sudan. According to the order, the committee will be reporting to the President monthly on the progress of the dialogue.

BREAKING: President Salva Kiir Mayardit has reconstituted a high-level committee for dialogue, expedition, and follow-up on the final status of Abyei.

The reconstituted committee is tasked with engaging the Government of Sudan and reporting directly to the President on the progress of Abyei’s final status.

Members of the Committee include:

1. Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel – Chairperson

2. Pieng Deng Majok – Deputy Chairperson

3. Minister of Presidential Affairs – Rapporteur

4. Martiso Otimoya – Deputy Rapporteur

5. Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation – Member

6. Minister of Defense and Veteran Affairs – Member

7. Member of Parliament representing Abyei – Member

8. Director General of Internal Security Bureau, National Security Service – Member

9. Chairperson, Abyei Joint Oversight Committee – Member

10. Dr. Dier Tong Ngor, representing Civil Society – Member

11. Toor Deng Mawien – Member

12. Deng Deng Akuei - Member

13. Deng Biong Mijak - Member

The committee is expected to strengthen dialogue mechanisms and expedite the resolution process regarding the final status of Abyei between South Sudan and Sudan.

According to the order, the committee will be reporting to the President monthly on the progress of the dialogue.
