🍎 Could the Wambugu Apple be Trinidad & Tobago’s next big cash crop? 🌱

Developed in Kenya, the Wambugu apple grows in tropical climates — meaning it could thrive right here in T&T. Experts say it has the potential to:
✅ Reduce our food import bill
✅ Boost local agricultural exports
✅ Create new income streams for farmers

This is the kind of innovation Caribbean farming needs crops that work with our climate, not against it.

💡 What do you think? Could tropical apples be the next big thing for our farmers?

♻️ Turn farm waste into “Farm Gold” with composting!

Don’t toss those crop scraps, kitchen peels, or animal manure—transform them into rich, natural fertilizer! 🌱

Simply:
1️⃣Layer green & brown waste.
2️⃣Keep moist & turn regularly.
3️⃣Wait a few weeks—then feed your soil!

✅ Boosts soil nutrients
✅Saves money on chemicals
✅Improves water retention
✅Cuts down waste

Composting = healthier soil, healthier harvests. 🌍

Support Local. Secure Our Future. 🌿

Every dollar spent on imported food is a dollar leaving our Caribbean economy.
Every seed planted here keeps us fed and independent.

👉 Start small: buy local produce this weekend.
👉 Grow something—herbs, veggies, fruit trees—in your yard or even a container.
👉 Share this post to remind friends that food security begins with us.

Together we can strengthen our farmers and reduce dependence on imports. 💪

🚨 T&T Farmers Call for Real Support 🚨

The Ministry of Agriculture’s annual budget still averages only $945 million TTD—below the $1 billion that the T&T Farmers’ Union says is needed to show real commitment to the sector.

Union executive Shiraz Khan warns that anything less in the 2026 budget signals indifference to food security and the people who feed us.

🌱 If we want stronger local food production, government investment must match the talk.

Do you think agriculture should finally get 1 billion+ in the next budget? 💭

🛑 Why T&T must curb its soaring food import bill 🛑

Did you know Trinidad & Tobago imports well over 70% of its food, much of it from the USA?
Every shipment means higher prices, a weaker TT dollar, and less control over what we eat.

🌱 Imagine if we grew even half of that here.
✅ Lower prices
✅ More local jobs
✅ Stronger food security

Question for you:
👉 What percentage of your weekly groceries do you think are imported from the US?

It’s time to back our farmers and grow our own future.
