One of our celadon hens is playing house 🏡 she most likely won't hatch any babies out. The babies are not the goal, my hens happiness is. I let her keep her pile of eggs because, why not?
I have some eggs in the incubator that I can give her when they start hatching so she can be the mom she wants to be.
I can always take the eggs and stop the broodiness but I really don't see the point. She's happy, she's healthy. She can play house. ☺️

🌞 August Hatchery Update 🐣

With the summer heat settling in, I'm pressing pause on egg incubation for the month of August.

Right now, I don't have climate control inside the hatchery, and I'd rather wait than risk the health and quality of developing chicks and poults. The well-being of my birds will always come first. 🤍

That means there will be no hatching eggs, chicks, ducklings, poults, or quail available throughout August.

This break also gives me time to focus on improving the hatchery so we can come back stronger when the temperatures cool down.

Thank you all for your understanding and continued support of Rustic & Roam. We'll be back to hatching as soon as Mother Nature gives us a break! 🌵☀️
