In Loving Memory of Khaleesi
October 31, 2013 - May 16, 2024
Before Indi Acres was more than a dream, there was Khaleesi. Our heifer, our queen, my heart and soul of 10 years who ruled our home with sass, snuggles, and more attitude than her tiny body could hold. She was a farm dog through and through—always right at my heels, always knowing exactly what to do.
Now that we’re here, I can’t help but wish she was still beside me, trotting along and keeping everyone in line. But in a way, she is. Shelby, our sweet girl, has a little Khaleesi in her. She’s already taken up the mantle, shadowing me around the farm like she’s been doing it forever. It’s like she knows she’s got some big paw prints to fill.
Khaleesi may not have made it here physically, but her spirit is woven into every corner of this place. We feel her in the sun-warmed grass, in the way the puppies romp and play, and in those quiet, still moments when the farm is just too calm.
She was the kind of dog who demanded her throne (aka any couch cushion you were sitting on), who never met a snack she didn’t want, and who made every room feel fuller, warmer, and a little more ridiculous. We miss her every day, but we know she’s still here—keeping an eye on us, ruling over Indi Acres with that same queenly spirit.
Forever in our hearts, forever our girl. Rest easy, Khaleesi.
