They definitely made us work for it getting them on the trailer, but it was well worth the effort. 🐖

I’m beyond excited to bring these two back to Virginia and add them to our program. She’s a Waymaker daughter, and that little tank is a No Limit son. Both of them look absolutely phenomenal, and I can’t wait to see what they contribute to the future of our herd.

Good genetics don’t happen by accident—they’re built one generation at a time, and I think these two are going to fit right in. Thanks again Jeremy Lake for the awesome hogs.

I decided to do something I don’t normally do this morning — just take a moment.

Before the scramble of getting coolers ready for the farmers market and tackling the laundry list of things that need to get done today, I sat on the front porch with my monster and just enjoyed the quiet.

I feel like I was rewarded for it because just as I sat down, this mama deer brought her fawn out of the field. The same field that desperately needs to be bush hogged, but I just haven’t found the time to get to yet. She settled in under the big oak tree out front and let her baby nurse while I sat about 50 yards away watching.

Sometimes when things start to feel overwhelming, it’s important to remember to slow down and appreciate the little things. Those moments have a way of reminding us that not everything needs to happen right this second and that there’s a bigger plan at work.

Took a ride up to Pennsylvania a couple weeks ago to pick up a new herd boar, and not only did I come home with an absolute unit of a boar, I also picked up this beautiful gilt. 🐖

She’s due to have her first litter at the beginning of October, and I’m excited to see what she brings to the farm.

Even better than the pigs, we got to meet some amazing people and made some new friends along the way. One of my favorite things about agriculture is the relationships you build with folks who share the same passion for livestock and farming.

Now the countdown to October begins!

Picked up a Red Wattle × Hereford cross from the processor today 🐖🥩

Needless to say, we got back some really nice pork chops and some absolutely beautiful pork belly.

Always exciting seeing how different genetics turn out once they hit the freezer — and this one definitely didn’t disappoint.
