I have created a petition to have a bus system added in Bassett. This is something I deeply believe in and I know this will help so, so many families. If you believe in this change too, please sign this. If you will use the bus system personally, please leave a comment stating so. I am taking this to the administration building as well as the local bus company that already runs through Ridgeway, Martinsville, and Collinsville.

I personally experienced a heartbreaking tragedy when I lost my 12 year old niece in a car accident. A young driver, distracted and reckless, shattered our world irrevocably. I, myself, am now terrified of driving and I know there are many others in Bassett who share this sentiment and fear. However, our community lacks proper public transportation - a predicament that poses unnecessary risk and hardship for many residents. We are in desperate need of a public bus system in Bassett. Over the recent years, increased car accidents have terrorized our city's roads, triggering injury, trauma and even devastating loss. The National Safety Council reports the odds of dying in a car accident as 1 in 114, while a bus accident carries only a 1 in 6,723 chance, revealing the comparative safety of buses over cars. Implementing a bus system is not only beneficial in terms of safety but it is also a sensible, long-term solution for those struggling with personal transportation issues. A bus system could bring necessary relief and assurance to the residents of Bassett, fostering community growth and prosperity. The need for safer, dependable transportation options is clear.
