Bethlehem Co-op Market

Bethlehem Co-op Market Your community owned, full-service grocery store at 250 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA. Owned by 1750+ member-owners - opening to all shoppers in 2026! Parking too!

Our goals are to offer healthy, affordable, locally-focused food and educational offerings in a convenient neighborhood location. The store, to be located at 250 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, will be open for everyone to shop at. Our Mission:

The Bethlehem Food Co-Op is a diverse community encouraging physical, social, and economic health by providing healthful, affordable food; emphasizing local, sus

tainable, humane and natural food systems; and offering unique educational opportunities to the entire community. Important Things That Make Us Awesome:

Community Owned: The co-op will be owned by its members. Yesβ€”YOU will be able to own the grocery store you shop at. And, not only can you own a share of the store, that share will give you an equal voice in the democratic process of the store. Community-Operated: The people in the community the co-op serves will operate our store. We will provide good jobs for our community! In Downtown Bethlehem: The co-op will be an oasis of fresh food in the north downtown neighborhood of Bethlehem - open and accessible to all! Healthy Food: We plan to focus on local foods and organic offerings, helping our community live the best life it can, while supporting local providers. Affordable Food: Members will receive discounts on co-op products, and prices will be limited by working directly with producers and offering alternative buying options like bulk bins. Informational Workshops: The co-op will not just be a grocery store. We want to continue to engage with our community and offer education and recreation opportunities like classes on nutrition, cooking, gardening, composting and more! Convenient Neighborhood Location: The store will be accessible on foot or by public transit or bicycle. Visit us at bethlehemfood.coop

Big chain grocery stores work for profits. Co-ops reinvest them.

When you shop at a co-op market, every dollar you spend stays closer to home - supporting local vendors. That means your grocery dollars fuel local jobs, local farms, and local producers, not distant shareholders. Built by our local community to support our local community.

That's one of the many reasons we're working hard to bring a full-service, community owned co-op market to 250 E. Broad St. Opening later this year, we'll be open to all shoppers.

If this resonates with you, consider joining us as one of our 1750+ member-owners: bethlehemcoopmarket.com/join-us.

It's - and as we do all year round, we're honored to celebrate and support our LGBTQ+ community, including the neighbors, owners, shoppers, staff, and partners who help make this co-op what it is.

We believe community spaces should be welcoming, inclusive, and rooted in care for one another, and Pride Month is an important opportunity to reflect on both the history and ongoing importance of that work.

We look forward to welcoming all of our neighbors when we open later this year with our full-service, community owned grocery store.

The CCMA for Consumer Co-ops annual conference started up today in Tacoma, WA.

For those of us interested in the co-op world but not attending the conference, the team at Garlic and Roses has it covered. Their (growing) list of articles that set up some of the sessions and keynotes in Tacoma can be found at this link: bit.ly/4dBv4lN

You can also subscribe to their free newsletter at garlicandroses.coop - they'll be posting daily recaps of everything happening each day. And each month they send a newsletter with inspiring articles.

We're always looking for member-owners with an interest in how co-ops around the country organize and succeed - watch for announcements about our election for new Board members, coming in October.

We're thrilled for the folks at Wasatch Cooperative, a co-op market that opened last week in Salt Lake City. Twenty years in the making, they are off to a great start on a long and prosperous run!

And we are beginning the process of making plans for our own opening later this year (date TBA). A group of our MOVE volunteers is now meeting as the Launch Team, to begin preliminary planning.

Interested? Join us online tomorrow (Wed) night at 6:30 pm to brainstorm how we can welcome the community and put our best foot forward.

All are welcome. The link to join the meeting is bit.ly/4ur6biA (we ask you to please sign in with your full name).

Many of you tell us that you resonate with our mission that emphasizes sustainable practices.

Specifically, we'll be doing all we can to reduce plastics in our packaging, and we'll encourage shoppers to bring their own bags for their purchases.

Opening later in 2026, to all shoppers - a full-service, community owned market.

Thankful today as we remember those who served to keep our country and community strong. Whether they lost their lives in battle or later from their physical or mental challenges, the sacrifice they and their families made will not be forgotten.

What a great day! We were very happy to join in the celebration of Friendship Park's grand reopening last Saturday.

The event featured a ribbon-cutting, community partners' info tables (like us), food trucks, and much excitement exploring the park's new amenities. A wonderful neighborhood gathering - the newly-reimagined park is a great addition to our community.

We're excited to officially join the Northside Alive community when our new market opens later this year at 250 E. Broad St.
