You'll be amazed when you see this š breed in person. This is our Enya, an Ayam Cemani chicken are very rare.
š¤ Ayam Cemani chickens are from Indonesia. They have a dominant gene that causes hyperpigmentation, making them black inside & out. Their feathers, beak, wattles, comb and internal organs are all black.
šŖ¶ As you can see their feathers are iridescent & gorgeous!
š„ They are a small & very calm breed from what we've seen. They lay a small cream egg, around 80 per year. They are more ornamental in my opinion, like pets or for breeding since they are so rare.
Ever since adding them to our flock, anytime I say "I am" to my husband as a response to something, he says back to me "Cemani" that's our humor for you š¤©š
Ayam is pronounced "I am" if you didn't catch our cheesyness.
