The State of our Mission
We got our nonprofit status six years ago, in August of 2020. In that time, we’ve made a difference in the lives of so many, in an industry that has its share of ups and downs.
555 individual cases and counting.
But 555 is so much more than a number.
It’s the life of every dog represented by those 555 cases.
It’s the dogs who get an open spot when we pull one from a shelter.
It’s the relief in the hearts of families who feel they have no other option but to surrender a beloved pet.
It’s the older man who, because of housing insecurity, places his beloved companion in the hands of a volunteer, trusting us to give them a better future.
It’s the dogs pulled from the streets or shelters and placed into loving homes.
It’s the fosters who open their homes and hearts to a wayward soul with little but hope and fear, giving them love, safety, and time to heal.
It’s their children who watch their parents help an animal who won’t stay forever, but will stay just long enough to get their feet back underneath them.
It’s the conversations about why that dog has to move on to another family, so “we can help a new one.”
It’s the adoptive families, their children, friends, and pets who get to experience the joy of a new life together.
It’s the volunteers who drive these souls out of shelters and toward a better tomorrow.
It’s the children of those volunteers who learn what selflessness looks like as their parents carry these dogs toward a better future.
It’s the volunteers who walk into shelters to evaluate just one or two Bull Terriers, knowing they may walk back out haunted by the howls of the dogs we couldn’t save.
It’s the volunteers who visit applicants, review homes, and spend hours on the phone finding the right home for the right dog.
A home that will keep them safe.
A home that will help them flourish, thrive, and become the best version of themselves.
Six years. 555 cases.
Behind every number is a dog, a family, a foster, and a volunteer whose life was changed.
555 is so much more than 555 lives.
It really does take a village.
