Hard to believe we have pollen coming in to our hives in February! This is 3+ weeks ahead of what we would usually expect to see. Early pollen sources are important to the hive and help the queen decide that it is time to get busy laying brood. This pollen is likely coming from Silver Maples, which are one of our earliest flowering trees. Looking forward to a productive year!

Grumpy Bee Honey (playfully named after our very first beehive that was always a little spicy) has just what you need for those holiday dishes or locally produced gifts!

We have 24 ounce (1.5 pound) bottles / jars of pure - raw honey for 12$ a piece.

We have handmade and poured lotion bars -6$ a piece. These are made using our left over capping wax from spinning honey. They come in natural scent as well as several light fragrances. Perfect for those dry winter hands and GREAT as stocking stuffers!

We also have hand rolled bees wax candles in several colors for 6$. Beeswax burns very clean and these will last about 6 - 8 hours.

Bee keeping is a year round activity if you want to keep happy and healthy hives. In the fall, all of our hives receive Oxalic Acid V***r treatments to combat any Varroa mites. These external parasites are really hard on honey bees, so treating all hives is important.
