So my Sebastopol goslings decided they wanted to take a dive today…..the heart was willing but the water was shallow 🤣. Plus my little cross beak silkie chick wanted her picture taken 🥰. Day three of torpedo feeding her and she’s doing great!

Daily check in with Derp. Cross beak is definitely getting worse, but at a week old she is eating and drinking fine, growing well, and gaining some big feathers. I did give her a tiny bit of mash via syringe (powdered chick feed, warm water, and canned pumpkin) just to makes sure she’s getting enough. She is bright eyed and curious and likes to be held. I’m sensing a “shoulder silkie” in our future 🥰🤣

Update: Derp’s cross beak is making itself more obvious, but he/she is still eating and managing fine. Right now I have them on tiny crumbles but I will provide mash if needed. Other than the cross beak, it is a very healthy happy chick! Also, the goslings decided to take their first bath today 🥰🤣

Here’s my Mother’s Day gifts 🥰🥰🥰. A porch Goose named Wanda from my best friend Kennedy Wood, and a funny chicken plushy from my hubby and sons. (I don’t cuss much but I will talk to anyone and everyone about poultry….so it’s very appropriate) 🤣🤣🤣

After closer consideration and realizing that the cross beak will probably get worse with age, we have decided to keep this little one at our homestead as a special needs pet. That way it gets a good quality life and we don’t have to worry about someone else accidentally breeding it in case it is a genetic issue. Ya’ll…..meet Derp. Updates to come
