.... I get to play in Dahlia tubers again! I have missed these guys. We are getting back into the grow room. Part 2 is in the comment section on how we choose to store them last fall.

Labeling tubers and waiting to put them into storage. We are wraping them in plastic wrap this year, so making sure they aren't too wet is important. We don't want them rotting. The plastic wrap does a nice job of not letting moisture out. We use vermiculite last year and loved it . Then found out that breathing in that dust is horrible for my lungs. So that changed that plan. I'm also limited on storage space so I am going to be snuggling them in tight.

The flower farm is officially put to bed for the winter! See you next spring!

Dahlia's came down today. It's time to dig up, wash and divide tubers. Then we store for next year.

Elizabeth's FAVORITE Dahlia is named 'Pooh'. It's red and yellow and she planted ONE cutting. That freaking thing created a monster of tubers. With a little guidance, Elizabeth cut her tubers apart. All these tubers will be just for her.

Harvesting Dahlia seeds and it actually worked. They are the dark, narrow looking pieces. I am very excited.
