We wanted to give you a transparent update about why pre-orders took a little longer than expected to ship.
As many of you know, BLACK BUTTA is handcrafted in small batches using carefully sourced ingredients — including authentic Kombo Butter from Ghana, one of the key ingredients that makes this product so special.

Unfortunately, our original shipment of kombo butter was held at the border much longer than expected.

To avoid delaying orders even further, we quickly sourced from a backup supplier…

But after receiving and thoroughly inspecting the ingredient quality, we discovered the kombo butter was spoiled and did not meet our standards.

And here’s the thing:

We will never sacrifice quality just to ship faster.

Yes, our first batch of Black Butta did sell out in 2 days and everyone received their orders. Then we opened up pre-orders and immediately ordered all ingredients needed, but our main ingredient got held up at the border for weeks and to avoid further delays, we sourced from a backup supplier. Unfortunately, the backup supplier failed to meet our standards in quality - which also meant we would not make a low quality product for our customers. We would rather delay shipments to make sure your skin gets the best product possible!! 🙏🏾

I get this question a lot since Nova is plant-based, so here’s what a typical day looks like. I’m literally this girl’s personal chef because I don’t trust store-bought food or restaurants to uphold the high standards I have for her nutritional needs.❤️

What helps is that most of her meals are fruit-based, so there’s not a lot of cooking involved outside of her dinner meal.

If you have a toddler or young children, this time is imperative to shaping their relationship around food when they get older. Kids will eat what you give them. They will normalize what you normalize. Every time Nova tries a new fruit or vegetable, she ends up loving it immediately.

Her sea moss comes from .african.seamoss - the only company I trust to make the gels up to standard (made by me of course lol) and the elderberry syrup is an organic brand I purchase from a local farmer’s market.

In light of Passover season and the Feast of Unleavened Bread, I wanted to share one more recipe we will be keeping on repeat - especially since this one is completely guilt-free 😊🤗

Unleavened Blueberry Loaf Cake

Ingredients: 3 cups spelt flour, 1 flaxseed egg, 1 cup coconut sugar, sea salt (pinch), 1.5 cups cashew/almond milk, 1/2 cup avocado oil, 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice, 2 tsp vanilla extract

For icing: 1.5 cups raw cashews (soaked), 1/2 cup fresh red dragon fruit, 1/4 cup maple syrup, 1/2 cup almond/cashew milk, and 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 and add spelt flour, coconut sugar, flaxseed egg, sea salt, almond/cashew milk, avocado oil, lemon juice, and vanilla extract to a mixing bowl. Stir until well-combined.

2. Transfer loaf mix to a loaf pan (lined with parchment paper). Bake for 50-55 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.

3. To a small blender, add soaked cashews, dragon fruit, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and almond/cashew milk. Blend until smooth.

4. Allow loaf cake to cool for 20 minutes, then spread icing evenly across the top and add any additional toppings of your choice. For me, I added more blueberries and lemon zest 🤗
