Greenhouses 9-10 are growing well, several varieties of lettuce in different stages. These two units are actually kept about 10-15° degrees below outside temp by the cool cells that run all along the back wall. It's awfully nice to be able to work out of the heat in the afternoons!

Poblanos, jalapeño, hot banana and the favored Santa Fe pepper ....

Made the first batch of Spicy mustard of the season. Look for it at the Sedalia market on Friday and Camdenton market on Saturday

This is HUGE ....our country has been trained to expect perfection on many levels....I am just going to talk about veggies here 😌

There is an incredible amount of food that isn't cosmetically perfect, these are graded as seconds or number twos, and sold at a very reduced rate. Nutritionally, taste wise they are fine...... we have people going g hungry...yet we don't eat this "farmer food" .

Wake up America and quit expecting your farmers to raise perfection every time

And hats off to HyVee for promoting this (and they are one of the better chains for working with local farmers)
