Oranges have long rolled around in kids’ and adults’ lunch boxes, been a breakfast staple in their juice form, and even donned cloves around the holidays. Oranges aren’t just juicy and nutritious. They also have a lot to offer when it comes to health benefits.

🍊Supports gut health
Research shows that eating citrus fruits may be helpful in reducing symptoms seen in digestive conditions like inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

🍊Support immunity.
Eating oranges when you feel sick may be a folk remedy, but new research suggests that there’s real science to validate the practice. In fact, oranges may contain compounds that are potent enough to help fend off even more serious germs. For instance, vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that helps protect you from pathogens and plays a key role in cellular functions of both your innate and adaptive immune system.

A 2020 study published in the journal Antioxidants discusses that the flavonoid hesperidin, found in oranges and other citrus fruits, may have antiviral activity in the body.

Furthermore, hesperidin and vitamin C appear to help counteract cell-damaging effects of free radicals that are triggered by inflammation and viral infection. Interestingly, both the common cold and COVID-19 are caused by coronaviruses, which is why vitamin C may be helpful against both types of infections.

🍊Project against heart disease.
Research at the UF Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences suggests that compounds in orange peels may help improve the ability of your gut to prevent arterial plaque formation — or atherosclerosis — a major risk factor for heart disease.

🍊May have anti-obesity properties.
In 2020, researchers at Western University began examining a compound called nobiletin in sweet oranges and tangerines that’s thought to have anti-obesity effects.

🍊Has anticancer effects.
A 2017 systematic review of 22 studies examined the role of citrus juices and their preventive effect for cancers and found strong evidence for their ability to help protect humans from cancer.

The circulatory system transports oxygen, nutrients, immune cells, and hormones to and from almost every cell in the body. Without proper care, an unhealthy circulatory system can strain your heart, increase blood pressure, or even result in life-threatening blood clots.

Given the circulatory system’s vital role, taking steps ⬇️ to support its health is an important endeavor.

✅Get High-Quality Sleep
Numerous studies indicate there is a clear relationship between heart disease and sleep quality. The less quality sleep you get, the more damage you could be causing to your heart.

✅Eat Food-Based Vitamin K
Vitamin K can help prevent the formation of calcified plaques on the walls of your arteries. Ideally you should get your vitamin K from food rather than supplements. People with higher levels of food-based vitamin K intake tend to have better overall cardiovascular health. To increase your vitamin K, add more greens such as kale, spinach, broccoli and parsley.

✅Consistent Exercise Routine
Exercise improves blood flow, eases blood pressure back to healthy levels, and controls blood sugar fluctuations.

✅Eat More Antioxidants
Free radicals are harmful substances that form when you’re exposed to toxins. Antioxidants help neutralize free radicals and protect your body from their damaging effects. Without enough antioxidants in your diet, these free radicals can oxidize cholesterol and cause plaques to build up on the walls of your arteries.

✅Get Enough Minerals to Support Healthy Blood Pressure
Several minerals are essential to maintain a healthy blood pressure. This includes potassium, magnesium, and calcium. All of which help your blood vessels relax when they’re supposed to.

It’s best to get these minerals through your diet from whole foods. Good sources of potassiuminclude avocados, beans, potatoes, and watermelon. Top picks for magnesium include spinach, chard, and pumpkin seeds.

inflammation plays a role in almost *every* disease imaginable. Chronic inflammation can also magnify pain, damage healthy cells, cause joints to ache, cripple your digestive system, and even make you gain weight.

There are a variety of strategies to help fight inflammation. These include detoxing the body, eating anti-inflammatory superfoods, adding a Black Seed Oil, and generally following a healthy, active lifestyle.

But what most people tend to forget is that it’s just as important to remove things that promote inflammation.

⬇️ the most pro-inflammatory foods

1. Canola & Vegetable Oils
Refined vegetable oils are among the worst things you can put in your body. The caustic refining process of vegetable oils involves high heat, solvents, and chemicals of questionable safety. This processing converts the naturally occurring omega-3 fatty acids into trans fats.

2. Processed Meat
Numerous studies have found processed meat can increase your risk of heart disease, diabetes, & several different forms of cancer.

4. Processed Sugar
With the exception of raw honey, almost every form of sugar is processed. This includes cane sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, sucrose, brown rice syrup.

5. Wheat Flour
Wheat contains an infamous protein called gluten. For some people, evidence suggests that the gluten protein can activate a compound in the gut called zonulin. This contributes to leaky gut which can cause the immune system to become overactive, resulting in systemic inflammation. Even if you’re not affected by gluten, there are other proteins in wheat called amylase-trypsin inhibitors (ATIs) that can promote an inflammatory response. Many wheat-based products are also refined carbohydrates, which are also known to trigger inflammation in the body.

6. Dairy Products
Dr. Amy Myers M.D. said, “dairy is one of the most inflammatory foods in our modern diet, second only to gluten” . When you consume foods that your body cannot properly digest, it can cause the immune system to go haywire.

✨By eliminating your consumption of these problematic foods, you will find yourself with more energy, less joint discomfort, and a healthier heart.
