And the day before that I drove to Greetsiel which is in east Frisia, on the German coast. It has a tiny port and very cute houses, too. Tourists come here all year to drink the specialty, Friesentee, a nice black tea with heavy cream and big chunks of rock sugar. The weather was not very summer like, but, well, that’s Germany. Cold and rainy in June. It can be warm, but it also can be very rainy. July and August are usually the warmest months. But the rainy weather always gives nice clouds!

Hello, my friends! Yesterday I visited Bremen’s Schnoor quarter, I need to share this, because it is a very huge tourist attraction. The streets are so narrow at some places I had to walk sideways!😅 But the reason I went there is quite exciting: I went to meet with somebody who’s renting out a food truck! My brain rattled all afternoon thinking of how to make my Texas delicacies there and it’s not impossible! I just have to change the name and the logo and apply for some more support and hypothetically I could start very soon! So cross your fingers for me that everything works out in my favor! But first let’s look at these cute streets and houses!

Hello, y’all! A little update from Germany: My container arrived last week on Monday, everything went very smoothly, I had a lot of help, unfortunately I also caught a really bad cold that I pulled through the last ten days, but we’ve been busy getting the kitchen set up which was the hardest part, and I’m still unpacking. The reason I’m not posting so much lately is that before June 15th I won’t have internet at my house and my cellular data is running through my fingers like sand! But I can tell you this much: I found my dehydrated Antonio and I can’t wait to test my Texas recipes with German ingredients! Once that happens I will definitely post more!

It’s getting serious now! I spent the first nights in my apartment, on Friday we carried a kitchen upstairs, well, my friends did, I’m still having knee issues. On top of that I caught myself a big fat cold. My mom and two friends from Nuremberg came last night, my mom brought everything I needed to heat up some food and water and today we’re expecting the container. I hired three students to help, because it’s a lot and I’m totally wiped out. I’m so grateful for all the help, I can tell you that! I’m up for the second time tonight sipping on hot beverages and trying to soothe my throat. My mom brought me some homemade antibiotics! Ginger, garlic, onions and honey. I hope it’ll work! On Thursday I have an appointment with the job counselor, I hope I’ll be fine by then. Happy week, y’all!

A little father’s day trip on Thursday to the lake in Otterndorf. It looks so pretty, but the wind was freezing cold! It was like 45 in the shade and 60 in the sun, but the wind felt like 36! But it was pretty, I watched some swans diving for food and ducks nesting and at the restaurant I found this father’s day menu that kind of cracked me up! That might be a nice special for some dads! Not for mine!😅 I made cauliflower with potatoes and cheese sauce for dinner.

Hey, y’all! My time in Stade is almost over…my container arrived at the port of Bremerhaven yesterday and now we’re all shaking in our boots if it goes through customs smoothly and can be delivered to my new home and unloaded. Half of my helpers are traveling through half the country so not knowing the exact day is kind of stressful. If all goes as planned I will have a furnished home by Monday night! And then I can focus on how to get this baby running again and if it’s even possible. I’ll keep you posted! By the way: tomorrow is Ascension Day in Germany. It’s a Christian holiday, but also Father’s Day. A lot of guys have the tradition to meet and cycle through the country side and drink every chance they get. Like Schnaps and sour liqueurs or so. Yes, in Germany you’re allowed to drink in public! But if you get caught riding your bicycle drunk you’ll lose your license for a month. But that’s just one of the traditions. In eastern Germany it’s called “Herrentag” , gentlemen’s day. But mostly it’s about guys having fun, they don’t have to be dads. Not like Mother’s Day when families try to pamper mom for a day, this is more for guys doing guy stuff.

After three hours at the flea market we went to Krautsand, a nice place with a vast beach on the Elbe river. They also have food there! I feel like I am on vacation or something, so much eating out! We walked a while and enjoyed the beach feeling. Just so crazy with the trees along the sand! And the typical thing for German tourists at the sea: a “Strandkorb”. People spend their days in there when they’re at the beach, you can rent them.
