Reward Increased to $70,000 for Suspect in Triple Teen Killing — Still on the Run
More than four years after three teenagers were killed inside a convenience store, the suspect remains at large.
On April 8, 2026, federal and local authorities announced a significant increase in the reward for information leading to the arrest of Abel Elias Acosta, who is wanted in connection with a triple homicide that occurred in Garland, Texas.
The FBI is now offering $50,000 for information leading to Acosta’s arrest and conviction. Combined with a $20,000 reward from Garland Crime Stoppers, the total reward now stands at $70,000.
Acosta, now 18, has been on the run since December 26, 2021, when authorities say he entered a convenience store and opened fire on four teenagers.
The victims were identified as 14-year-old Xavier Gonzalez, 16-year-old Ivan Loyola, and 17-year-old Rafael Garcia. A fourth teenager was wounded but survived.
According to investigators, Acosta knew at least two of the victims and may have specifically targeted them. Authorities have also explored possible gang connections.
While Acosta remains at large, his father, Richard Acosta, was previously convicted of capital murder for acting as the getaway driver and is currently serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
Federal authorities have charged Acosta with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution and believe he may be hiding in Mexico, though tips have placed him both inside and outside the United States.
Officials warn that Acosta should be considered armed and dangerous. His appearance may have changed, and an age-progressed image has been released.
Law enforcement emphasized that the case remains active and has never gone cold, urging anyone with information to come forward.
