My journey with sourdough began about 5 years ago when my oldest son was just a baby. I had just become a stay-at-home mama, and was looking for a hobby to pour myself into. That was indeed what I found with sourdough baking! I began trying all sorts of different artisan loaves, desserts, pastries, you name it. I began to truly love all things sourdough. But then we kept having babies and my priorities shifted from wanting a hobby to pour myself into to Just. Getting. People. Fed. Haha! I was looking for something that still had all of the benefits of sourdough, but with way more ease of access than your average artisan loaf. I needed the pop-it-in-the-toaster, toddler-can-slather-peanut-butter-all-over-it, pre-sliced kind of a deal. THAT was when I came to a realization— duh! Sourdough sandwich bread!!! So I went to work on some recipe testing, and came away with our reliably delicious, tried-and-true, family-favorite sandwich bread recipe. It is a basic staple in our home, and we hope that you enjoy it too!
Our aim with The Whole Loaf is to eliminate the grocery store gunk on our kitchen counters, and to replace it with this high-quality, organic sourdough sandwich loaf. Let us be your weekly bread bakers!
