Saved this little bird off my driveway today… and somehow it cost me my van door. 😭😂

I was so focused on helping the little thing that I forgot my driver’s door was still open, backed up, and absolutely SMACKED the gate post. Now the door won’t close and I’m holding it together with ratchet straps until we can get it fixed. 🤦‍♀️

So today’s score:

Bird: 1 🐦
Gate post: 1 🚧
Van door: 0 💀
Me: just trying to make it through the day 😂

At least the little bird is safe. I guess no good deed goes unpunished. 😂

Living their absolute BEST life. 🐕💨🌾

No leashes. No sidewalks. Just wide-open ranch, dirt under their paws, and plenty of room to RUN. 😂❤️

Pretty sure the dogs think we bought this place specifically for them.

It’s about time we properly introduced some of the fluffiest little residents here at Ranchito Bendito Ranch. ❤️

These are our Frizzles—feathers going every direction, plenty of personality, and absolutely ZERO concern about having a good hair day. 😂

The black one actually has a name… Mojo Jojo 🖤🐔
My wife named him, and somehow it fits him perfectly. 😂

The rest of the crew is still nameless for now, but honestly… with faces and feathers like these, they’re going to need some good ones!

Just a little peek at some of the birds we’re raising as we continue building our flock here at the ranch. 🥰

Oh.....And before anybody says it… we know there’s a Silkie hiding in the Frizzle crew. 😂 He was SUPPOSED to be a Frizzle. Somebody lied. We’re still waiting on his curls. 🤣

Well… somebody at Ranchito Bendito has been keeping a secret! 👀🐔 We found our very first green egg today, and now the investigation begins—WHO LAID IT?! 😂

Breeding Pen Project – Update #5!

What a weekend!

We started building these two breeding pens on Sunday and wrapped everything up today (Monday, August 3rd). It was a lot of work, but seeing them finished makes every sore muscle worth it.

We now have 4 breeding pens ready for our breeding program, each equipped with:
✅ Deep litter flooring
✅ Large nesting box
✅ Roost
✅ Feeders
✅ Shade and shelter

The next step is getting everyone moved into their new homes and organizing our breeding groups.

We still have hardware cloth to install around the bottoms for extra predator protection, but the hens needed their own space sooner rather than later. With all the recent rain, the roosters started becoming much more territorial, so it was time to make the move.

I won’t lie… this Texas heat has been brutal! 🥵 But I’d rather sweat than freeze any day. 😂

Thank you to everyone who’s been following our journey and supporting Ranchito Bendito. Every update gets us one step closer to the breeding program we’ve dreamed about.
