Greetings Fermented Arts Enthusiasts and welcome to the Fair Lakes Whole Foods Market Wine Lounge Facebook forum. For those of you who are not familiar with our wine lounge, officially termed Eno
teca Ottanta, my we first offer a brief explanation? Essentially, this area of our beautiful store (the back right upper corner) is a pre pay, self serve wine bar. One of our talented staff will issue to you a wine card, otherwise known as "the fun pass" to which you add funds. The only cost will be the amount which you wish to affix to your card. Tax is included in your purchase so if you choose to put say $20 on your card, then you will get exactly $20 of spending power. There is no minimum value and we will happily add additional funds to your card anytime you like. The card is yours to keep and you are welcome and encouraged to join us time and time again. If you think you may not return for one reason or another and your card has a zero zero dollar balance, they are recyclable and we will gladly accept them back for reissue. These cards are for use exclusively in our wine lounge and are unable to be used for other purchases throughout the store. Once your card is loaded, the heart of our wine lounge is an 80 bottle nitrogen cuvenee system featuring wines from all over the World in a myriad of styles ranging from light, dry, delicate whites to dark, concentrated, full bodied reds to an occasionally oddity or two to sweet stuff to… you name it! Because the very same chemical reaction which will render a freshly cut apple brown, can and will act upon your half consumed bottle of wine, albeit with much more saddening and costly consequences. As well as being heavier than the mixture of gasses otherwise known as air, nitrogen is inert. This is important because nitrogen will blanket the wine in any given half open bottle from the oxygen in the air inside the bottle, thus preventing unwanted environmental damage, namely oxidation. Under nitrogen, Enomatic, the Italian manufacturer of our wine serving system suggests that an open bottle of wine will remain in pristine condition for upwards of six weeks! In response to this rather bolt assertion we say… we wouldn't know… we have never had the contents of any bottle make it that long! We have two separate price structures for our 80 selections. The majority of our wines are priced for a calibrated 2 ounce pour with 4 ounce and 6 ounce options being double and triple the default 2 ounce pour price. For example, if the retail price of a given bottle is $14.99, then the 2 ounce pour price will be $1.50, the 4 ounce $3.00, and the 6 ounce, $4.50. Two ounce pour prices start at $1.50; 6 ounce glass prices start at $4.50. We do feature a few wines, our last 16 wines particularly, or in other terms #64 through #80, which are a little more than average. We have adjusted our price structure for these selections in an effort to make them more accessible. The alternate price structure is as follows: 1 ounce / 3 ounce / 5 ounce with the calibrated 1 ounce pour price being the default with the 3 ounce being 3 times the single ounce price and the 5 ounce being five times the single ounce price. All of our 10 Enomatic wine units house 8 bottles and each unit is clearly marked as either 2 ounce / 4 ounce / 6 ounce or 1 ounce / 3 ounce / 5 ounce unit. From here, all that need be done to enjoy the wine of your choice is to simply insert your wine card in the card reader slot located in the center of each wine unit and then depress the corresponding volumetric selector button and your wine will be dispensed. Food is welcome in our wine lounge. We offer an abbreviated menu featuring light appetizers, cheese flights, specialty grilled cheese sandwiches, salads, olives, nuts and similar which can be ordered from the wine lounge. All items on our menu are less than $20 with the great majority being even less than $10. If you would prefer something to eat other than those items listed on our menu, you are more than welcome to acquire whatever food items you desire and simply bring them up. One point of note is that there is no scale in our wine lounge and thus, no way to weigh by-weight items. If you choose a by-weight item such as a plate of food from the hot bar, you will need to purchase this in the front of the store before ascending to the lounge. We have recently instituted an exciting and delicious new way to enjoy a glass of wine or two in the wine lounge… over a pot of cheesy fondue! At the moment, fondue is limited to Friday evenings exclusively. The cost is $14.99 per two people which includes a rather large pot of made-to-order Swiss fondue for two, in house freshly baked baguette, cubed and retoasted for essentially a dressed down, oversized crouton as well as hand cut organic green apple. If you prefer, for an additional cost we also offer a few different local salamis as well as cornichon pickles and a little stone ground mustard. Be warned, our wine lounge is not particularly large and we do fill up quickly, especially on Friday nights! Unless you have made a reservation, we are operate on a first come, first serve basis. For patrons with group oriented events, we offer two notable options. For parties of fewer than 15, if you would prefer for us to reserve seating for your and your associates, simply let one of our staff know how many people, the nature of the gathering, the date and of corse, the time and we will try our best to make accommodations. Reserved seating is free of charge and is on a first come, first serve basis. Due to the size of our establishment and being in accordance with the Fire Code, we must maintain a maximum capacity of less than 32 people at all times. As such, we cannot guarantee that reserved seating will always be available. For parties of greater than 15 people, we offer the option of renting the entire room and effectively closing the wine lounge to the public for an agreed upon time period, usually 2 hours. There is a $250 room fee incurred in this instance in addition to any amount spent in the way of wine and / or food. Our Wine Lounge is equipped with retractable courtesy blinds which can double as a projector screen in the event that your gathering would have the need to make a power point presentation or similar. Unfortunately, due to the particularly high traffic of thirsty enthusiasts on Fridays and Saturdays, we are unable to offer the wine lounge for private functions either of these two days. Any and all questions are welcomed by phone. We hope the above listed information has been helpful to you. For all of you who have already discovered our wine lounge, we would like to take a brief moment and say thank you for your loyal patronage, for so graciously sharing your Worldly wisdom with us and for brightening our days with your wit, laughter and enthusiasm and good cheer! We look forward to seeing you as much as you look forward to seeing us! For those of you who have not yet discovered us… we will be waiting for you and we look forward to introducing you to the the best of Whole Foods Market, Fair Lakes! Cheers,
The Wine Team at Fair Lakes
