Of all the broth I’ve made thus far, I’m most excited about this one! After butchering our first batch of meat birds, this broth will contain a full carcass, trimmings from butchering, and chicken feet! We are trying to use as much of the animal as possible to appreciate the life of each bird! As always, all other ingredients are organic. 👩🏻‍🌾

Yesterday was a very rewarding, yet tiring day! We processed 10 of our 30 meat birds and got them all packaged up today! As I always say, one of our biggest goals is to provide our own food and this was such a huge step! Here are 8 of our 10 finished chickens and a rabbit! We are hoping to get the rest of the chickens finished next weekend!

I am so excited about this! I saw a recipe to make homemade household cleaner with your Christmas tree and oranges in vinegar. I added a couple cinnamon sticks, star anise, and clove for some added scent and benefits! This will sit for a few weeks and then I can strain and add to a spray bottle to use around the house. If it works out well, I will make a ton of it next year!

There’s a lot of crud in the air and this mama is taking precautions! Bone broth and elderberry syrup are two natural remedies that our family uses to stay well throughout the winter months! We use organic and locally sourced items as much as we can. We also avoid tap water in our remedies and for drinking in general when we can!

This batch of elderberry has already been claimed but I will have bone broth and future batches of elderberry if you’d like to try some for yourself!

Due to the flood, our garden just wasn’t a go this year. So, we took it upon ourselves to learn new homesteading skills. Here are somethings we currently have going on the homestead.
1) Sourdough discard chocolate chocolate chip muffins.
2) A rising sourdough loaf.
3) Homemade rabbit bone broth.
4) Our first ever batch of kombucha brewing.

What a day! Today was processing day on the farm! Jeremy processed 12 rabbits - one for dinner and 11 ready for the freezer! I made the best batch of bone broth to date, but it’s got a kick from the jalapeño! And our egg production is on a roll! Let us know if you are interested in adding any of these items to your dinner table!
