I went to the HOMESTEADING-ish Conference yesterday. This soil course, https://vimeo.com/115349243 , by Bob Gregory was one of my big takeaways from the conference. I feel like it is a huge piece of the puzzle that I was missing. There are more free courses on his website too. If you are growing food, I can't recommend this enough! I think it is one of the most important things I have ever learned.

19.2 pounds and SO sweet! This is the first and only watermelon we have ever grown. It was an experiment for this year. I hand-watered it nearly every evening due to the drought. It took up a lot of space in the garden and I only got one melon (due to the drought). It was, however, the sweetest watermelon I have ever tasted. I am saving all of the seeds. Maybe next year I will sell seedlings of this variety again. It was really beautiful and just as tasty.
