If you know me, you know I LOVE a treat. Preferably a baked treat, preferably sourdough, preferably made with love by a local. So you can imagine my excitement when my neighbor mentioned that she’d be making her delicious loaves and cookies available to the public 🤯 and how I (and maybe other members of my family) have been hounding her about how soon and often we can order 🤣 THIS WEEKEND, PEOPLE, Sharon is baking up some mini loaves and cookies (!!!!) for porch pickup. Head over to her account .is.fun to order, and hey — if you throw some flowers in with your order I think that’d be really cute too 😉

Spring this week on the farmette ✨ ranunculus are blooming, roses are budded and going to bloom right for Easter 🕊️, and sweet peas are coming in strong. Scoop scabiosa, tweedia, agrostemma, echinacea, and foxglove are gearing up for the encore. This season has been funky with the weather swings, but we always have something to find the beauty in if we look hard enough (and if you overplant enough 😉)

This week on the farmette ~ spring came in with a bang, with most of our fall planted bulbs blowing open with the heat wave. Lots of garnish flowers, sweet peas starting, and the second succession of ranunculus are on their way 🤍 The girls’ secret garden was definitely the most magical spot this week, we’re enjoying the grass planted daffodils and muscari before we set down some better stepping stones next week and sow some seeds for summer 🥰

Sweet, slow days around here while the farmette wakes up. Sweet peas, foxglove, delphinium, ranunculus, and more daffs are on their way, but right now we’re enjoying finding all the teeny pansy and micro bulb treasures that we tucked in last fall. Life lately - bulb forcing, seed starting, soaking up the sunshine between foggy days, and the first bits of spring on the way 🙌🏼🥰🌸 We had a project weekend and got so much done! The studio is organized, the roses are pruned and orders are cut for Valentine’s Day! Guys, we even cleaned out the garage 😱 it was a full family effort and couldn’t have done it without my wonderful parents and sissies! 🫶🏼 The girls put together a little picnic for me and Kevin yesterday, it was so cute and they definitely know the bribes that work on their parents (spindrift and trail mix 🤣)

One of the unexpected joys of downsizing my farm plans for 2026 has been the time it’s opened up for me to share my love of creating outdoor spaces with garden consultation clients. I leave each consult feeling so grateful and inspired by what each person is looking for — more time outside, the therapeutic benefits of working with your hands, or the sense of accomplishment that comes with creating something from simple earth and seed. I know firsthand how important creating and caring for a space that my children and I can explore and revel in has been, and I truly believe that we are wired to look for beauty in green spaces. I also have yet to meet a toddler (or adult, lol!) tantrum or mood that wasn’t soothed by a trip out to the garden. It’s where I tend to have my best talks with God, where I get to wear myself out with meditative physical work, and ponder all the tiny glimmers of hope and gifts of beauty that have been sprinkled for us to find. My hope is that more people can find a similar peace in the garden this year, and I’m looking forward to sharing what I can with you. 🤍🫶🏼🪴
