A few of my favorite things about our chicken coop build from last year…
1. Hatch doors between each run-in. We can easily separate the chickens if we want or open the doors and let them mingle.
2. A Dutch door for ventilation on decent weather days.
3. A water pump next to the coop! We can easily attach a hose and fill up water buckets without having to carry the buckets. Plus easy water access for anything that needs cleaned.
4. Windows that open out from the bottom. Ventilation even when it’s raining🙌
5. Bottom access doors between coops. Makes it easier to clean out all of the shavings/poop… push into the next coop, then the next coop, then out the back!
6. Three separate coop areas. Makes it easier to separate certain hens/roosters when it comes to getting ready for hatching season!

Plus we have extra space to add a brooder in the future 🙂

From planting potatoes in May to harvesting potatoes in September! First year planting Russet potatoes, and we’ve got plans to plant even more next year 🙂

This is an older apple picking bag that the guys on the farm don’t use anymore, but it works similar to the newer bags. Lessens the risk of bruising the fruit. I think it’s pretty cool🙂

Apple season is in full swing 🍎 spent a few hours picking Jonathan apples up at my dad’s farm this morning. Don’t let the pictures fool you - there was a lot of whining today😆

Sourdough pizza is one of my family’s favorites! I typically make a large batch and after the rise, I split it into four dough balls that weigh approximately 500g each. Two go in the freezer and two get baked for supper! This dough freezes extremely well. Just move it from the freezer to the fridge the night before you want to make it! We bake them on 15” stones and the crust is always super soft!

Ingredients: sourdough starter, flour, water, salt, oil.

I don’t want to jinx myself, but I’m surprised I haven’t burnt out this mixer yet after 20 years! Though it did smell like burnt toast after making bread once😬 BUT it’s still working perfectly for my sourdough cookies😋
