Hawk Rock Ranch Over the years we have seen a lot of food recalls that have made us question the safety of the food we are feeding our family.

Then in 2008 we like many if not most Americans were worried about how much longer we would have a job and be able to put food on the table. These things led us to two conclusions; one people who produce the food will always have food, and if you make your own food, you know what is in it and where it comes from. HawkinsHealthyComforts is a business to sell surplus “comfort foods”.

It has been a busy couple days. We now have a path around the pond and the damn is 3 times wider than it was and the pond is a couple feet deeper. The whole pond area is starting to look a lot prettier too. Lots more trees to cut down to open up more grazing area. The first picture is before and the rest are along the way/

Another productive day on the farm! Last week we had a bull decide it was NOT time for new pastures and jumped the gate to get back with the cows..needless to say he took the gate down with him. Thank goodness Jason Hawkins can fix all the things and the gate is good as new. Then off to Beef weigh in with Lillians Heifer for the fair( no pictures 🤦🏻‍♀️) Then we filled the hay trailer for the cows and placed 2 bales so we can wean calves later this week.

Garnett KS. Comercial Bucks No Papers. Both are intact. Older one is 3 years old. Did not get as big as we thought but he gets to work. Also throws a lot of color for looking all white. Does are kidding one day after another. First one had triplets second had twins. The younger one we saved because of size. He is only ten months old he is significantly bigger than siblings. We were thinking about keeping him but have kept to many siblings. PM for details.

Speckled Ewe Show Lamb

This ewe lamb was born December 29, 2025. The dam is a Hampshire cross who was ai’d to a registered Dorset ram. Which makes her a speckle. She is bred to be a show prospect but can also be a breeding ewe. If you are interested in her for breeding purposes I can get you the sires information. She is on a lamb grower creep feed and has been give one shot of CD&T. She will be ready April 15.
