Celebrating the blessings of the Lord. I haven’t been very good about posting pictures this summer so I’ll try to catch up!
Here’s to this sweet filly who shared her mom for the first couple months of her life.

This is the first filly out of this mare “Bitta String” after 7 horse c**ts!!!! That’s amazing.

Better late than ever! We got this mare (Que) back because of her great breeding in hopes of getting a replacement filly out of her. She’s by our old paint stud, Ropers String, and cowhorse bred mare, Duel Priss.
Que was bred to a Weiscamp stud, but evidently she wasn’t and bred late to Smarty. This bay c**t will be a blessing. He has the prettiest big eyes!
And we are finally done this year!

Correction! Kody reminded me he won the tiny tot saddle a time or two.

We had our youngest All-Around saddle winner at the Kids Rodeo 2026! Kacy Kissel won the Tiny Tot Boys division in his last year as a Tiny Tot riding “Black”. What a blessing this horse is! Kacy called his older siblings on the way home and thanked them for making him the horse he is. I should have counted the number of saddles that have been won on Black. Kacys little dance jig and big hug after receiving his saddle certificate was precious to me.

Jira and Kody were both super close to winning the Senior Girls and Junior Boys All-Around this year also and brought home the Reserve All-Around awards as well as senior jockey champ. Kate and JohnE also won several event awards and showed up to rodeo.

Kody and JohnE had a super good ribbon roping time (10 something) that I hope will be forever etched in my memory.

The 89th La Junta Kid's Rodeo has been a family tradition for generations. It was so special to go back and rodeo with all our Allen cousins, rodeo friends, and to see family friends come back with their kids too. We offer a BIG “Thank you” to all the fine people and sponsors who worked so hard to put this rodeo on!

The Lincoln County Fair is underway! The horse show and Ranch Horse show is done and we have indoor project auction tonight (Saturday Aug 1). It was pretty cool for Kissel Horses to have Champion and Reserve Champion Mare.
Emma Rae Smith now owns “Lena” Intent on Cash who is looking great and won Champion. Jira has claimed “Poca” Fancy Little Chica and took home Reserve Mare. So fun to see both girls enjoying these nice mares!
Jira let me show Poca in the open and it was a lot of fun! Here’s to the up and coming mares! Sorry I don’t have better pictures of Lena. I will see if I can get some. She’s a sight for sore eyes!

A fancy sorrel stud c**t out of Cowgirl! Not the replacement filly I was hoping for, but God knows what we need. All our plans don’t always turn out how we hope, but usually it’s for the better. Blessed be the name of the Lord!
