HAPPY LABOR DAY WEEKEND! We are open and ready with new items and old favorites. New this week: sweet MAIA apples (cross between honeycrisp and winesap) and Covington sweet potatoes. Also available this weekend are sugar baby watermelons, sweet sweet corn, onions, potatoes, garlic, cucs, zucchini, peppers, tomatoes, okra, eggplant and LETTUCE MIX! In the freezer section we have a full selection of our beef, steaks, ground and roasts. Along with mushrooms, eggs, popcorn, honey, jams and jellies and Cheryl’s awesome sunflowers we’ve got what you need! Ever wonder what 5 acres of green beans and sweet corn look like…well here you go. I picked about 20 bushels of green beans last evening and they are gorgeous: young, tender and stringless makes you appreciate what a good green bean tastes like. Healthy soil=nutrient dense food…that’s a fact. Grew a buckwheat cover crop this summer, only takes 45 days from seeding to flowering; flail mowed it to mulch it all up; prepared the soil carefully and planted summer squash. Beautiful. Staunton Farmers Market waynesborofarmersmarket
