Love this ❤️
In Dubuque, Iowa, a barber named Courtney Holmes came up with a creative idea at a community Back to School Bash. Instead of charging money, he offered free haircuts to children who would read aloud to him while sitting in the barber chair. If a child didn’t know some words, he helped them sound out the words and understand the story.
This idea was meant to make reading fun and to encourage kids to practice their reading skills before going back to school. More than 100 children took part in the event, picking books to read and earning their haircut by reading them aloud. Adults and community helpers also provided books so the kids could choose something they liked.
The focus was on helping kids improve their reading confidence and making learning enjoyable. Many news outlets covered this story because it was a positive and inspiring way to support young readers.
