Hibbing Farmer’s Market Inc.
Winter-Spring Newsletter March 3, 2026
Greetings all! Spring is just around the corner and the 2026 Farmers Market not far behind. We are having a potluck meeting on Sunday March 29 from 5-7 at Mr. Ed’s Farm LLC 10796 Foss Road Hibbing to discuss the next steps to get ready for the season.
Things to know:
· Membership dues for 2026 are $75. Daily table fees $5.
· All vendors need to submit an updated member application, an ST19 certificate of compliance form and a signed copy of the Membership Market Standards. These forms are on the website, or I can print them for you to complete at the meeting. A copy must be kept at the market.
· If you think you will be a vendor, please email me of your intentions. I need to submit information to the MN Farmers Market Association and to the MDA by mid-April. This has to do with insurance, SNAP etc. If you change your mind, no big deal. If I don’t submit it, you may have to wait until next year.
· Cottage Food vendors need to renew their licensees. There are some changes from last year so be sure to look into it.
· A grant has been submitted to The Hibbing Foundation for a Make and Take Pollinator Bucket project.
· A grant has been submitted to Arrowhead Regional Farm Bureau for a signpost where vendors will show whether they are in or out on market days. If received, all paid vendors will be eligible to have their names on it.
· Anyone with an idea for a Compeer Financial grant, for the market, please let me know. They give grants up to $1000. Deadline is March 15.
Important dates at the market as decided at the annual meeting are:
· Pre-market fundraiser sale Saturday June 13. All vendors are encouraged to participate and donate proceeds from what they sell at the market that day. This event will be marketed as a “Sneak Peek” into what will be at the market in 2026.
· Tuesday June 16 Opening Day 2-5. The market will close October 17 this year.
· Super Saturdays are July 25, August 22, and September 19.
· Fill the Bus will run from July 21-August 22.
There is still time to add events, activities etc. We are operating as an educational organization so are looking for educational things to do at the market and as outreach and partnership programs in the community. All the paperwork has been submitted for us to become a 501c3 non-profit. We are just waiting for our letter of determination from the IRS.
Please feel free to invite potential new members to the market. The best recruiting is often word of mouth.
Let us know if you can or cannot make the meeting.
