It's that time again!!!! 6 new hopefuls are in the incubator and ready to grow! April 3rd is Hatch Day... ill candle around day 10 to see who's coming along! Always an exciting time!

Well we survived the cold and ice and my girls have started laying eggs again! Give me a couple of weeks for full production... but this year dozen eggs will be 2.50 a piece! 18 count will be 3.00 a piece. I'll have brown and white eggs. And if your interested in starting your own little chicken group... Ill start incubating around the end of April so the chicks will be able to get outside some. Also looking to add turkeys this year as well!
As always... free range and happy chickens at Megs House! Let me know if you'll need eggs and I'll be sure to get them washed and packed up in about 2 weeks! Thanks yall!

Its a small flock but it will do.... two roosters and three hens.... theyre my stars of the show!
Egg production has stopped for a period... time to take a breather and get those fall feathers in... preparing for fall at the farm!

Back by popular demand!!! The girls are continuing to lay through the winter... so eggs are avaliable! I know what my chickens eat... eggs are collected daily... and trust me.. these hens are ALWAYS humanely treated and taken care of. Eggs are a good source of protein! Eggs fit the keto diet! These eggs are farm raised and gathered with love❤❤

Yes... I've been in "mourning mode". Gah I miss my rooster....
BUT! The Lord giveth and He taketh away... And it makes room for new beginnings...
I provided a home for some hens and a duck that needed some new scenery.. yes... I have a dad dang duck!!! I think I'll call him Walley.. the darker hen will be called Auburn... and I haven't decided for triplets... I'm glad to make them apart of my recovery and my tiny little farm. I do have some eggs avaliable thanks to Betty working overtime.. 2.50 a dozen. Washed and ready to go! And Walley is just for show! Going to search for a new rooster this weekend.. wish me luck!

The farm is super quiet this morning...
No 630am "wake up" call... no chaos on the porch from trying to steal the cats food.
No small talk amongst the hens... just silence.
I found Butch yesterday, or what was left of him and since Jewel didn't come home.. I'm assuming she fell victim as well. Well this sucks.
Yea I know I know they were just chickens.. but they were my babies.. spoiled.. obviously a little too much...
The farm is quiet this morning... we'll pick up and move on. Love yall.. thank yall for all the love.

Yall..... it's hard for me to even speak on it...
I got home this morning to find feathers everywhere... my rooster missing... and one laying hen.
I'm almost for certain that the white young pullet I had was carried off.... i followed her feathers until I didnt see anymore. RIP to my Lovely... Jewel left feathers but looks like there's a possibility she's still alive.. just hiding... and my boy... my Butch.. yet to be found. I didnt see any of his feathers.. but I'm sure he's stirred up and hiding for a while. I still have Betty... my older hen.. and the babies are ok....
Yall... I'm completely devestated... I've took so much time and care... and something took it from me. Until further notice... egg production will be stopped as of now... and unless Butch comes back... no eggs to incubate.
Y'all pray for me... this is my pride.

Good morning from the farm!!

Do you know the benefits of eating fresh farm eggs vs store bought eggs??? Well here's a few:

* clinically proven to be lower in cholesterol and saturated fat... and it's MS... we could use some of that!
* Increase in Vitamin A, E, and D... Vitamin A is good for eye health, and can lower your risk for some cancers... Vitamin E is good for heart health and also lowers risk for some cancers.. and Vitamin D is excellent for bone health.
* More Omega-3 fatty acids for heart health
* More beta carotene... which is HUGE in carrots and promotes eye health... so if you don't like carrots.. eat eggs...
Not to mention the biggest reason, they come from ME. I know what my chickens are eating and I know their health...
Free Range... healthy and nutrious food... =happy chickens!! Eat eggs! Buy local!

First night off in a while.. what do i spend it doing.... cleaning eggs of course!!! Thanks to Mrs. Dolly McCarty at work I have 18 count egg cartons.. and they are full to the max... who needs some eggs??!!!!
