Popcorn is comfort food.
Popcorn has always been special for my family. Holidays for me meant that my mother would spend her time baking batch after batch of her special caramel popcorn, all while listening to Christmas songs and dancing around the kitchen. She would make caramel popcorn for all our neighbors, for my class at school and most importantly, for our family to enjoy over the holidays. As I got older I began to request some of her caramel popcorn as a gift of mine, that I would unwrap from under the tree, just so I wouldn’t have to share with my sister.
Even the sound of our air popper when we would make popcorn before movie nights made me happy. Something about the anticipation of the good movie and great popcorn. To this day I still will pull out my old air popper to prepare for a movie night with my family. I want to share those good memories with my daughters and create new ones for them to share with their children one day.
Pick Me! Popcorn really came about as something that we can do as a family that will bring happiness and comfort to others. I love expanding on my mother’s original recipe and developing new and exciting flavors to enjoy on popcorn. So far I have expanded our company to include over 40 flavors, both sweet and savory. We also have included delicious kettle corn that we pop by hand in a giant stainless steel kettle. We have a lot of fun with that traveling around to various Fairs and Festivals.
