I am the grandchild of immigrants.

I am 37 years old. The same age as Renee Good and Alex Pretti.

I have not been quiet about what is happening in the U.S. and especially Minnesota out of complacency. I’ve been quiet because I’ve been trying to process it. Trying to understand how we arrived at a place where this level of cruelty is treated as normal, or worse, necessary.

I usually try to avoid political posts. But this stopped being about politics a long time ago. This is about morals. About human decency. About whether we are willing to look directly at the harm being done in our name.

Gone are the days when someone’s political party was largely unknown or irrelevant. The consequences are no longer abstract. They have names. They have ages. They have families. They are people who will never be the same.

I have never and will never tolerate the cruelty I’ve witnessed over the last year, and especially the last month. Silence doesn’t feel neutral anymore. It feels like permission.

This isn’t about sides. It’s about humanity. And I refuse to look away.
