I wish it only took this long.

Last week I filled in Heather and Jessica’s burrow hole, added a piece of chicken wire to cover the small section that was not already covered with chicken wire. Then I added fresh bedding to replace the bedding they covered all in the earth they excavated. Unfortunately, Heather did not have a litter, meaning that her time with Noah was obviously not long enough. I’m hoping Jessica will be a different story in the coming weeks after she spent the night in Noah’s enclosure the other week. 🤞🏼

Injured Chicken Update

She is doing well and is standing and moving around a lot more. She is still sleeping a lot and we haven’t changed her dressing yet because we didn’t want to stress her out too much. We will change it today and take a look to assess why’s going on. We will also try to get her to eat some mashed food and continue to monitor her progress.

What predator would cause something like this? Normally they just take the whole bird…

One of Grace’s babies that she hatched a few months ago got attacked by something last night because I found her in the coop just laying on a ground and being very lethargic. Once I was able to inspect her, I found her leg meat was exposed. Thank goodness for the community “The Heathy Coop Collective” run by .doc who hopped on a quick telegraph call to help me inspect her and talked me through the cleaning process and what products I could use. She is so knowledgeable and helped boost my confidence to try to tackle this myself. I would highly recommend her Skool if you have chickens or other poultry.
