🫐It's BLUEBERRY Time in NC! 🫐

Our driver is there now getting loaded with some of the freshest blueberries out there! They were just picked this morning near Beulaville, NC and are for our customers next week. I can't wait until they get here, so I can taste them. 😀

This year, it's a little harder logistically get in certain crops, but hopefully we can provide blueberries 🫐 and peaches 🍑 to most of you at least once this year.

Produce from Englewood is really starting to pour in!!!
And I had such a wonderful time out in the Martins fields a weeks ago. They truly have an amazing small operation that produces so much food in a regenerative manner that restores the health of the soil... and in turns gives better nutrients to us.

Usually on Mondays we send out a special form to the route that just closed with what's available "last minute", to those who have orders in. And on our website we have the variety boxes available.
So order it up when you see it available!

It's finally available... a coffee IV (or camel backpack) for those who love taking coffee directly! 😅
Being in the discount closeout, I see all sorts of food come through that you would never see in regular grocery stores. This refill bag of coffee ☕️ sure was a unique one that I couldn't help but post about. ☺️

The Cost of Freedom... Nothing Says it Quite Like a Veterans Cemetery.
This year, as we come to Memorial Day, when many people are having cookouts and spending time with family, let us not forget what it took to secure this freedom. Especially this year, with the Iran War 🇮🇷 going on and service members dying, it brings the to the top of my mind how many people have paid the ultimate price for the freedoms I enjoy. And I am also so grateful for those who have faithfully served in the military (many of my family) to keep this freedom.

I took these photos at the East TN Veteran's Cemetery. I don't know anyone buried there. But I found it moving to pass quietly among the headstones, read the names and short notes on them, and wonder who they were and what their story was. We all have a story in this short life. What is your story and what will you be remembered for?

I just picked up the last apples 🍎 available from last falls harvest.
Of course I had to try one to see what the quality is like of these Evercrisp that were stored in cooler (not oxygen free storage) to see how they have lasted. I was shocked at how well they have stored! Very Crisp and even SWEETER than when they were picked! Buy these while you can because there will be a break in apple availability, and the apples this year were hit with frost, so they'll be most spotty in their availability.

Apples are one of my favorite fruits, and I love how complex the different the is are. Some are good for sauce, some for baking, and many for fresh eating (with almost all working for all 3 types of uses). Picking the right one is incredibly important for what you want it for, to get the best results. And for long term storage, pick Evercrisp, Pink Lady, and Fuji!

The local produce season has officially begun! 🥬 🧅🌱

Recently, I went down to Englewood Tennessee, and bought a lot of vegetables from the old order Mennonites, who live and farm there.

Right now, they have a lot of lettuce, onions, beets, kale, Napa cabbage, and other more. And pretty much every week, for the next while, the variety increases.

So let's get this produce season going!

Note on peaches: The early peaches got hit by frost, but we should have nice freestone ones in later June and early July. But we probably won't do them more than one time per group this summer, due to logistical constraints. So when they are offered, make sure to order them!

We sell to all different types of customers! We have people in the city, in suburbia, and definitely a lot out in rural America. And when I see pallets like this, I am certainly reminded of how many people who buy from us live out in the country and have animals and gardens.
We're happy to keep the products moving to to help supply you with what you need!

After a long day of sorting... this is what we resort to. 😄🫣 Pulling wagons around... filled with food and other belongings we are taking home. Yeah, it seems that pretty much everyone who works in the warehouse avails themselves of the extra food we have that I am giving them for free or a discount. And our family is always bringing home food for our house... because really how much cheaper can I buy food than to pay wholesale price for closeouts?

Got to get the benefits of the job where you can! It's a hard job! 😊
