Hafey Farms Mountain Market Serving our local Ortega Mountain residents, Ortega Hwy commuters, and weekend adventure seekers, hi

28/09/2024

Monday marks two weeks since the Airport Fire began to ravage the Santa Ana Mountains alongside many small communities on the Ortega Highway. Among them is the small town of El Cariso Village.

27/09/2024

Over the last 2 weeks with the herculean help of dozens of local companies and Volunteers in gathering, transporting and sorting donations for those affected by the Airport fire... the result is nothing short of incredible!😳

Across the street from Hafey Farms Mountain Market we have set up and opened the donation center for El Cariso and those affected by the Airport fire.
Thank you to these companies for helping with collections, transportation and logistics.

and the Hoey Family
and the Novorr Family
and the Clifton Family

and the Murphy Family
for water filtration and the Clevenger Family
and the Chavis Family

These generous donations have been collected mostly from individual people and personal donations from nearby cities... but with the huge volume the logistics in transportation, sorting and distribution has been epic.

Also... Special thanks to Tate Clifton for organizing everyone and Lori Lara, Annette Wood and Daphenie Shipkey along with many other volunteers in organizing the donations day and night to get them sorted. Also want to thank the Rancho Capistrano community for allowing us to warehouse the donations in their community center building. Amazing to see the mountain communities and neighbors come together to support El Cariso residents.❤️

Not only are the Sturgeon LineMen working hard to get our power restored to El Cariso, they also stopped by to donate some sack lunches to our residents. Today, we have about 14 sack lunches, with sandwiches and lots of shelf stable snacks. They will be bringing some more tomorrow. For residents, We have them squirreled away in our refrigerators in the store, so just ask the staff if you want/need them. Thank you Sturgeon! ❤️

OC Indian Motorcycle Rider Club showed up in force to support our little store yesteday. Even though we are still limping along on generators, they had the patience to have lunch with us and hang out for a bit. These guys have become great personal friends over the last few years as they frequent our store for our BBQ. But we have also supported their charity efforts and fundraisers as they are just a great group of people!

I like to think I have been emotionally strong through the crisis of this last week. I shed a few tears with local residents, but my focus has been on helping others and rallying support for this community and we have been pushing all donations out to our neighbors.

But... the OC Indian Club surprised My wife and I with a very generous donation to our store.

I lost it... I literally broke down and wept. When focusing on those who have lost everything, it is easy to forget about yourself. But there are real costs mounting for us to stay open since the this town burned. Fuel costs to feed hungry generators 24/7 is over $150 per day, food costs for donated food to firemen and local residents, lost revenue due to a 7 day road closure, slow business during the recovery, and other costs continue to mount up. Our plan is to give until it hurts, and then keep giving. But the OC Indian Riders Club knows us... and their donation is a huge boost to us and they know we will continue to carry on for this community.

I cannot thank these guys enough! We love these guys like family! ❤️🤠
..Not to mention some beautiful bikes!😜

This heat is taxing our refrigeration, which in turn works our little generators beyondtheir ability. We have been limping along... but a HUGE Thank You to Sunbelt Rentals who just donated a mumch bigger generator to help us keep our store open for our residents.

A big Thank you to Bradon at Lake Elsinore/Wildomar Sunbelt for donating the use of this Big Green Beast!🤠

Still waiting on ogficial updates from power companies, but we are hearing it could still take as long as 1 to 2 weeks before electricity is back on. SUNBELT is a life saver for our little store and the residents of El Cariso and those who lost their homes in the Aiport fire! ❤️

Another awesome partner California ICE Company. Donating an outdoor ice freezer that can run off our generators and a ton of ice for the residents of El Cariso. We are still without power so ice has become a critical need as there is no refrigeration for the residents who dont have generators. The extra capacity and the ice is a huge blessing. Thank you!❤️🤠

Again, the generosity of both our vendors and our new partnerships is staggering for El Cariso! I would like to thank a few that have gone above and beyond to help out this community:

1) Bon Suisse donated 50 bags of ice and cases of milk and chocolate milk. The ice is essential as power has been off for over a week. Ice is what is keeping residents food cold!

2) Lowes! These guys are AMAZING! They showed up again today bringing more donations. Masks, buckets, and an entire pallet of propane from Blue Rhino to keep our generators running. Literally the lifeline of us being able to keep our refrigerators going and the store operational. These guys cowboy up! 🤠

3) Blue Rhino Propane, for delivering the pallet of propane the same day it was requested. Epic!

3) Red Cross also came with more water, trash bags, Tarps, and snack foods.

Thank you all for supporting our store, this community and clean up and recover from. The Airport fire! ❤️

Continually amazed to see the support pouring in for this El Cariso community that was hammered by the Airport fire.

Thank you to Sysco... one of the first to show up and offer support. Thank you for the generous donation to help feed the residents of this community and making a special delivery to resupply us.

Thank you to CR&R for bringing up a 2nd dumpster so residents can dispose of rotten food from the power outage.

Thank you to Costco Business Center Ontario for scheduling a special delivery for us today and the generous donation of Costco gift cards for the residents of El Cariso!

There are vendors... and there are partners. These companies are all a blessing to this community. Please help us thank them and their wonderful people.

Without the generous support of our partners, local and extended communities, we would not be able to impact their area nearly as much as we have.

God Bless and Thank you!

Want to thank Rightway for not only replacing our portapotty that burned in the fire, but donating 2 additional units with hand washing sinks for the local residents and volunteers as well. It is awesome to have such generous vendors that are offering their support! ❤️

Well, Ortega hwy has been reopened, but we are still scrambling up here with no utilities.

The outpouring of donations and support for the El Cariso Residents have been nothing short of amazing. The warmest thanks for all the thoughts, prayers and generosity for our community up here. We are actually running out of space for for donations and working on securing off site storage.

We know many are anxious to come visit and show your support. We love you for that! ❤️

Please keep in mind that we still have no power and we are running about 50% capacity with generators. We are limping at best... only 1 beer fridge is cold, pizza ovens cannot run off our generators, and we have no credit card processing at this time until utilities return among other challenges from the fire. Suffice to say, we would love to see you, but be prepared to be patient with us, Or plan visit in a week or 2! 🤠 Right now we are still focused on supporting our neighbors as best as we can.

Also... Please be sensative as many residents are just returning to their properties for the first time and have not had the chance to process this situation. Not a cool time to take selfies! And Please, Please do not trespass on anyone's people's properties.
