Lone Star Jammin Jellies

Made some caramel today. It's still a little warm but I couldn't wait. I may or may not warm some up at a later time to drizzle over ice cream.

Here is the recipe I used if you want to try it yourself:

4 cans Sweetened Condensed Milk
2T Vanilla
1t Sea Salt

Whisk all ingredients together in a big bowl, then add to your jars.

Pressure Canner - 10 lbs for 10 minutes.
5 half-pints

Update from Pavlock Farms. We will be opening up for the 2021 season on Friday, April 9th. Our hours are M-F 9:00-3:00 pm, Sat. 9:00 am-2:00 pm and closed on Sunday. Our address is 210 Huntington Rd. First try for pickled beets and sour pickles. Too bad we have to wait 3-4, 5 weeks to try them. I did dill pickles yesterday. The green beans didn't make it to the canner, they made it to the dinner table instead. Next time.

Anybody know what time it is? It's Pickle Time! This year, for the first time, I am also going to do pickled beets and Dilly Beans (pickled green beans). As much as I love beets, I've never had them pickled so this adventure is just that, an adventure. I got all of this good looking produce from Pavlock Farms today. I'll be going back for more soon, even if the drive is over an hour. It's worth it.

The In a Pickle Festival will take over Kingwood Town Center Park Sept. 7 and promises a wide variety of vendors with pickle-related items, such as pickle cupcakes, pickle cotton candy and pickle beer.
