Predictable. I had a great caption… touched something wrong and it deleted itself. It was good, I liked it. You already know me though so…long story short… I’m back in “bake to order, just enough, sell out early” mode and you should stock up and preorder for this weekend because my hardworking man who is NOT a baker at all, who spends his evenings and weekends doing bread things deserves a bit of a break and next weekend (labor day weekend) is as good of a time as any. Shew. okay. hope this one stays put.

We had the time of our lives. She’s like the wind. But now we’ve got hungry eyes and are ready to get back to baking and slingin’ that gluten. You know i can really shake ‘em down! If you love me (and I know you do) you’ll pre-order your breads & thangs. Come early before the Woodland Arts Fair crowd or pre-order to get exactly what you want or be forever put in the corner like Baby. If I have to explain that, come see me in person Lexington Farmers' Market

See y’all rain or shine Lexington Farmers' Market this weekend! We’ll have the usual stuff and the Cornell & Mexicali breads too. Please note: we’re going to do fun stuff that is also a lot like work next weekend. It isn’t lounging about by any means & it isn’t vacation. It’s a competitive sport that my father and I have been involved in since I was 8 years old. Travis was recruited when we started dating 14 years ago and might enjoy it as well, we’re still not sure. As middle crew he’s held our team together countless times by literally putting himself in the middle of two captains who both think they’re correct (and that’s the nicest way I know how to put it). We get a road trip, sailing, camping, great competition and friendship that feels like family from all over this side of the Mississippi and maybe a trophy if we sail well. At any rate, it’s time away from (bread) work with people I love and I’m pretty psyched to do it again. When Daddio says it’s time to go, we hop to it, no questions asked🫡.
Enjoy these friends hangin’around!

Meet Enzo! We adopted this ??1-2 yr old australian shepherd mix?? on Monday from Scott County Animal Care & Control and brought him home from the vet (snip snip) on Tuesday! Our hearts are so happy. We don’t care how old or what he is, he’s 100% good boy! Enzo and Ducky are making quick progress, but Mr. Miyagi is not quite sure how he feels about this new big goof ball of a brother. Enzo loves to play with all the toys and bones (and really wants to play with a kitty) and prefers the adirondack chairs in front of the bakery for looking at the creek, longingly. The shelter told us he loves water, but we have to wait til next week before he can go swimming (post-op restrictions). Anyway, I’m on “maternity leave” this week to get everybody settled in to a routine, so we will NOT be at market this weekend (7/11 & 12). We tried to have this coincide with last weekend, but that darned holiday screwed schedules up and here we are. Like we say a lot, life happens! Can’t wait to see yall again next weekend but you should go this weekend anyway, your local farmers and bakers and makers will be waiting for you!

big huge THANK YOU to all y’all that purchased neighbor loaves! 214 loaves of Big Boss Man Sammich Bread (100% whole wheat flour, honey, water, salt & yeast) are going out to our neighbors tomorrow, thanks to YOU and These loaves were baked by me because y’all bought them at our booth or signed up for weekly or monthly neighbor loaf subscriptions from our website. Fyi, we’re doing over a loaf per day, a little over 500 a year. While we’ve been doing this for 6+ years, starting because of/during the pandemic, the need for these donated loaves hasn’t diminished and they’re always met with excitement and gratitude from Leandra and her crew We can’t wait to help y’all share more delicious & nutritious bread with our neighbors. Come find us at the Lexington Farmers Market (most weekends) or check the link in bio for a subscription. ❤️🍞⚡️💀❤️🐠🐟🐠❤️

real good friends are just the BEST! and farmer friends that can find the energy to hang out on saturday after market are the realest goodest kind. the energy it takes “to market” is something that cannot be explained, it must be experienced. we work long days in the heat all week (yes, bakers too!) and then wake even earlier on the weekends to pack it all up, make the drive, unload it all, make it look all pretty for you and hope we have that home-grown or homemade thing you can’t live without… the wholesome ingredients for your next meal, the beautiful bouquet for your home, the kids’ sammich bread for the week… we do our best to have just the right amount, enough, and not waste a thing, because we care… about a lot. And all that caring and smiling and sharing can take more energy than a 15 hour day of manual labor in the heat. It’s a bit exhausting, but it’s also absolutely exhilarating, for me anyway. It truly fills my cup to be at market and talk about bread and life and music and all the other weird things that i might bring up… but i really don’t want to bake big this week and have nobody show up in the rain. honestly, it’s a bit much sometimes. so, i’m doin’ that thing where i remember i’m the boss and i can make the rules. i’m taking July 4th & 5th off. that’s next weekend. so, order what you need. i’m beholden to moods and weather, and while my mood is great, the weather forecast is not, so this is how i’m playin’ it. support your local farmers
