Short of an Acre will be running a small hatch of pasture-raised Celadon Coturnix chicks—straight run, raised in a tractor, high-protein feed, bred for that light blue egg trait.
We’ll also have hatching eggs available for anyone set up to run their own. Clean birds, strong layers.
Coturnix are one of the easiest, most rewarding ways to raise your own food—fast-maturing, quiet, and great for small spaces. If you’ve been on the fence, this is the kind of batch to start with.
Local only. No shipping. Not a big operation—just solid birds raised right.
There’s a fair local rate for chicks and eggs—nothing crazy, just what makes it worth doing.
Chicks can also be brooded to 3 weeks for an additional cost, if that helps you get set up.
This first hatch will be capped around 20 chicks, just to keep it small and solid. We’ll set based on interest, and once it’s spoken for, that’s it for this first round trial.
You’ll likely see a nice mix of feather colors in this hatch too—tuxedos, silvers, wild-types, and a few surprises depending on how they come out. Nothing guaranteed, but they don’t all look the same.
